What is best cast cd from the last 5 years?

💯💯

my best and worst

Glad to read I’m not the only one who thinks this. Glenn Close personified Norma Desmond. I never felt that way about Nicole. A dynamic vocal performance and maybe I had I not seen Glenn I would feel differently. I also think Audra deserved the Tony last night.

That’s an investment worth making as I believe the energy of their songs would definitely sell tickets. Do you think that opening so late in April may have cost them  couple more nominations?

I actually feel that it’s better not to have seen the tv show before seeing the Broadway show. You’ll be more objective and not constantly comparing the two like many on this board. It’s a much better show than many here have stated. Enjoy!

It’s not perfect but it certainly not a mess. My surprise is that Robyn Hurder’s terrific performance was overshadowed. More attention paid to comparisons of the tv show. The cast was outstanding!

I believe they refer to this as an overall positive review with a few mixed. Well done, SMASH!

I was at the 2 pm matinee yesterday and was out of the theater at 4:45, so I estimate the show and curtain call was over by 4:30-4:35. I even thought the intermission was extended as the bathroom lines were ridiculous so the show is about 2.5 hrs long. Needs a bit more cutting.

We all have our opinions. I think there will be lots more tweaking before critics start  sharpening their knives.

Agree on that storyline being unnecessary. They could have just had Ivy turning into a diva but having a change of heart in Act II. The teacher looked like the YaYa in My Big Fat Greek Wedding! So weird.  I also thought the soup scene stalled the show and seemed out of place. That being said, Robyn and Brooks were phenomenal!! Robyn was Marilyn but was also Ivy. I’ve followed her for several years and I got chills when she came out for the curtain call. Her talent has always been i

While I appreciated this production for the edgy more hip angle, it’s difficult to consider this the ultimate Sunset Blvd stage production. For me, scenery and costumes are a huge part of story telling. Gimmicks with cameras are interesting but if I was not already familiar with this story, I think I would have been a little lost. Why is Norma covered with blood at the end? Wasn’t she just taken away by authorities? The ensemble was a generic group trying to play different pa

Matthew Broderick in BABBITT at the LA Jolla Playhouse

I have an issue with people who say the same thing about Broderick but continue to go see his plays. If you don’t like him as a performer, why do you keep going to see him? I did not see a similar performance in this to other plays I’ve seen him in. just my opinion.

I remember standing ovations during the last revival with Glenn Close. Those are powerful moments that the audience is moved by. Looking forward to seeing this production next week!

I saw the play and didn’t think it was boring at all. A unique way to tell a story from a very strong cast. Could have been a few minutes shorter but overall I enjoyed it.

farewell Kimmy!
 Apr 28 2024, 01:07:36 PM

Couldn’t attend the final show, sadly, but went last week for the 5th time. My 4th time, Victoria was out so I just needed to see her one final time. She never missed a beat and it was her best one yet. Thanks to Victoria, Justin, Bonnie and the entire cast and musicians for such a tight and entertaining adventure.  I know they are touring in September and wish the participants the best.

Chita Rivera has died

Chita was one of the reasons I became a lifelong theater fan. She, Gwen Verdon and Jerry Orbach in the original cast of Chicago was my first Broadway show when I was a teenager. I’ll never forget going out and buying the OBC album, yes I said album, and playing it over and over. I tried to see everything she appeared in over the years. What a talent! Thank you Chita and rest in peace,

I posted a very negative review of Kimberly Akimbo on YouTube and got a threat to delete it.

That’s unfair but I’m not sure why you felt the need to review a show that has already won the Tony for best musical? Not to mention that it probably will close in the next month or two. No one likes every show and if you didn’t care for it doesn’t mean that someone else doesn’t like it.

Some Like it Hot to Close on December 30

I’ve seen this show twice with balcony seats from TDF and each time I thought the performances were solid, the music great, the dancing incredible all in a big house. I then saw Kimberly Akimbo, no dancing, decent songs, great performances all in a small house. I immediately felt connected something I didn’t feel at SLIH. Maybe that’s what’s missing?

Public Theater Lays Off 19% of Staff

I work in the nonprofit sector where donors continually comment in the salaries of executive officers. It’s up to the board of directors to establish the pay range and if they are financially qualified, will base the salary using revenue and expenses in mind. A successful executive who runs an organization is not going to work for peanuts as they can make a higher salary elsewhere. You get what you pay for. With a huge staff, that’s the place where cuts will take place just like i

I’ve seen SLIH twice with TDF  balcony seats and they’ve been good. The show is so big that you quickly forget you’re sitting in the balcony.
