Audiences expect Broadway performers to sing on key (especially at Broadway prices) I'm surprised Eden was even nominated.

I think she's very much the front runner - she's been nominated 3x in a ROW plus the play is currently airing on PBS so the voters will be reminded.

Maryann Plunkett for best actress in a musical

Illinoise for orchestrations

Rachel McAdams for best actress in a play

Brian D'arcy James  for best actor in a musical (though I'm fine with Groff winning it's just Brian is way overdue)

Here Lies Love for Set design (It has a really good shot but Tony voters recency bias is STRONG so I think Cabaret is taking it)

Corey Stoll for Best supporting

Merrilly is poised to win several Tony’s and then close a few weeks later, most likely Appropriate will win Best Revival and Best Actress and close a few weeks later, Stereophonic is set to close in August, Illinoise is limited. I guess at least the final weeks should be fun

Ohhhh that's good to know!

Balcony experience at Merrily?
 May 6 2024, 01:22:05 AM

I was in the 4th to last row of the center balcony and the only thing I missed were the heads of the band - but saw all the action on stage perfectly.  The rake is steep at the Hudson so unless you’re on the very far left or right you don’t miss anything.

That’s why her nomination was so surprising to me. You’d think singing on key would be the floor for performing on Broadway.

They've already recorded it and are calling it an EP. Hopefully they'll release it close to when the Tony nominations are announced '

The acting is exceptional and McPherson does a great job of making the language sound contemporary.

Wish I could see this version - Steve Carrell is a perfect Vanya I’m sure.

Hugh Bonneville will be starring in a production of McPhereson's Vanya as part ofBerkeley Rep's 24-25 Season

19.5????? Cabaret is 24 and they literally rebuilt the theater interior and have a movie star attached for 6 months. Who signed off on that figure?!

I was told a number that’s SIGNIFICANTLY higher than 24 for &ldqu

This immediately became the frontrunner for Best Play at the Tonys so I can't imagineit will close in July if it wins a slew of awards. I'm guessing the cast has extensions to  Labo
