You had to enter by Friday night 1/26. So it seems that window has closed.

Workshops of Some Like It Hot and some Ken Davenport shows have also done a lottery to get "civilian opinions" out of a reading. It's not a bad idea to see what's working and what isn't, though I don't know if the data would be any different from what invited co-producer types (or their employees) would provide after a reading.

Drawings will continue through Thursday, and if anyone didn't win, you'll hear that day at noon.

After the performance, we have to take a 20 minute survey, so it's clearly that. I've never been a part of anything like this before, and I kind of like that this wasn't widely reported on, the lottery, I mean. I don't think I saw anything anywhere. I only found out via an email blast

I recall some of them previously being run through ERC, a film test-screening company. Allows them to get more of an official "score" than anecdotal responses from industry folks.

I love how Smash unintentionally created the wildest social experiment in the theatre community without intending to do so. The reason there is no thread was that anyone that knew about it.... didn't say jack about it to increase their own chances of getting their name drawn. Sorry to gatekeep but somehow, anyone that knew about it collectively did so it seems.

To those that are just hearing about this now, last Thursday telecharge sent out a link to enter the chance to attend one of 6 open rehearsals of the Smash workshop next week and the week after. The window to enter was only a day and a half. And I also am not sure just how it was decided who was going to get the notice about this lotto. I enter telecharge lottos, have an account, and buy tickets all the time, but I didn't get an email. However, my friend I go in on lottos with did and that's how I found out. I was expecting some kind of notice about it to get reported on but never did.

Also.... I won for the 8th.

I believe I heard about the lottery on Reddit.

I won for Friday, February 16, but realized I can't make it that day. The email says I didn't win for any of the other dates I entered for (and lists them) so I'm guessing there's no second chance at any of those (and the 8th is the only one I could do anyway). Oh well. At least someone else will get this one.

If it runs like telecharge lottos normally do, when you don't claim the ones you were offered, you will be put back into the draw for all OTHER dates and times you entered even though your 1st email says you lost the other dates and times.

Telecharge lottos you can only win one at a time. So just as an example from when I do a normal daily telecharge lotto with multi draw times. If I win at draw one, I am told I lost all the other shows I entered. If I take that ticket, I don't win again. But if I don't take it, at the 2nd draw I have a chance to win one of the OTHER shows again (but not that original show I was offered at the first draw, that ship will have sailed)

It's happened to me before but in the case of this one, I don't know how many second chances people are going to get in the rest of the draws this week.

Ugh I'm just reading about this now, would've totally skipped school (my 9-5 corporate job) to attend! Telecharge emails me about every other little thing... I guess I'm on some blacklist which is why I didn't win a single one of those My Son's a Queer drawings.

I enjoyed it, and it was better than I expected. Lots of changes, some of which worked well. Still don’t know who this show if for, though. It reminded me of SLIH and The Prom, but not as good as either, so I don’t see it as a show that can be financially successful. I get that it’s just a workshop/rehearsal, but the bones aren’t there, for me. The biggest issue I had was that it wasn’t funny enough.

As far as the plot is concerned, it’s no longer a competition between Ivy and Karen. Ivy (Robyn Hurder) is the star of the show, who takes on a method acting coach, played by Kristine Nielsen (who hets Ivy hooked on Benzedrine), and becomes a deranged diva, alienating the cast. Karen (Jonalyn Saxer) is her understudy who, through a silly turn of events, can’t go on for Ivy when she’s absent for the invited dress. The first twist comes at the end of the first act when Chloe, the stage manager played by Bella Coppola, goes on instead, and becomes an overnight social media sensation. The second twist comes in the second act when Ivy dies during opening night, and Bombshell is restructured into the Ivy Lynn story, which is the brainchild of the producer’s (Yvette Nicole Brown) Gen Z assistant (Nihar Duvvuri).

Also, the writing team of Jerry and Tracy (Krysta Rodriguez and Alex Brightman) are married, as are Karen and Charlie, the ensemble member played by Casey Garvin.
