I saw the show last night 6/25. The 15 minute intermission ran long like there was something going on. The second act felt bogged down and some of the dialogue delivery was clunky. Luke Evans gave a very good performance, but even he seemed a little off in act two. I thought the show itself was fine. It felt a bit like a better prepared City Center Encores production. The direction was straight forward with a lot of downstage crosses left to right which felt unoriginal and redundant

Lincoln Center Theater 2026-2027 Season
I think Lear gets good performances out of actors and I appreciate that as a director she avoids excess. It makes her a good story teller. She trusts the scripts and the audience’s intelligence. Her directing style has a good sense of flow about it.
A lot of theaters are going to be vacant in the coming months - any idea of what’s going where?

I doubt Billy has any more interest in the demands of Broadway. And as for Lincoln Center, word around my UWS neighborhood is that a Shakespear
Silverback Mountain
Thanks for your clear response! I got the impression the house itself had the contract for all rentals but I could be mistaken. As an NYC resident I get asked about the distinction when friends come to town. Now I will have a more informed answer. Most people tend to think it has something to do with the location of the theater.
Silverback Mountain
I recently attended Silverback Mountain at the AMT theatre on west 45th. The front of the house staff were extremely friendly, and they informed me that that the theatre was an Off Broadway contracted theater with 97 seats. I always thought a theatre with a 99 or under seating capacity was Off-Off-Broadway. Was the theatre approved for Off Broadway status because the seating was close to 99 seats?
On a side note, Jason Yanto was quite good and he understood th
"La Cage" at City Center
If I were cast as a lead in an Encores production months in advance, I probably would memorize the vocals with a vocal coach and get a good grip on the dialogue including some memorization before the first rehearsal. I wouldn’t be surprised if some people haven’t done that over the years. I was a little surprised with the two leads being very book dependent in High Spirits given that they are married. There are also different ways of being booked dependent and some actor

I remember High Spirits earlier this year getting a lot of complaints about the binders, especially when it came to Andrea Martin. A quick check of that thread shows it only takes untilthe fourth post for a, "They sure like holding their scripts in this production."

In my mind I was referencing either or Dear World and Light in the Piazza but my memory could be failing me.
Rumor: Edward Albee's THE GOAT, OR WHO IS SYLVIA? Broadway Revival starring Steve Carell and Sarah Paulson
If anyone will bring in the crowds it will be Pedro. The poor guy can barely go anywhere without the paparazzi on his tails. Plus he is part of the Marvel and DC franchise. I think he will do for the project what Daniel Radcliffe did for Merrily We Roll Along.
"La Cage" at City Center
There have been other Encore shows where leads have carried books and it has not faced as much criticism as this production seems to be getting on this board. So it makes me think that this is more about the production in general. I was thinking of getting a ticket but now I’m not so sure. I have a feeling I might be huffing and sighing through. It.
TDF Down
As of today my account shows 2O offerings that are not in alphabetical order. None of them are Broadway offerings. I did use the search function for La Cage and a performance came up for this coming Sunday evening. I don’t understand why they made the change in the first place. The prior system was very functional and easy to work with. Very strange. I mean I did pay an annual fee for goodness sake.

THE LOST BOYS Reviews
After seeing all four new musicals I think the Tony award will go to Schmigadoon. The Lost Boys was more ambitious but the train went off the rails in act 2. Schmigadoon will also have a somewhat successful tour. I did not think it was all that great and it was a carbon copy of the tv show, but at the end of the day someone will walk home with the Tony award.
This is completely off the subject, but has anyone ever tried to make a musical out of Lord of the Flies?
CHESS Sets June 21 Closing
I saw the show last night and felt it was misdirected thus I was not engaged in the story. The director seemed more interested in style (which was lacking) rather than substance. I guess I should’ve been suspicious when I walked in and an usher whom I knew, said “well at least the singing is good.”
Lea seemed miscast and Aaron looked like he was outside his character peering in. I also had a hard time understanding lyrics in ensemble numbers when the orches
THE LOST BOYS Reviews
I saw the show last night and agree with the general consensus. It gets high marks for its ambition, but I did feel like the second act jumped the shark and it all became rather silly and predictable. The show was an example of how you can pull out all the bells and whistles, but if the story is not written in an effective way that strikes an emotional chord, the results will ultimately be mediocre. I will say that Shoshana Bean was quite good and I loved her playground number, even tho
Caps in theaters
Caps are worn to cover all sorts of things beyond baldness, skin cancer removal on the scalp, cysts and seborrheic dermatitis to name a few. I have not found that caps restrict my view. I say the play is the thing so unless a woman is sitting in front of you wearing a giant hat with a birds nest, I say just enjoy the show.
FALLEN ANGELS Previews
I saw the production over the weekend and found it quite entertaining and I laughed out loud several times at the physical comedy. I was very impressed with Kelli O’Hara for I had no idea she had such sharp comedic skills. The set and costumes were top notch. I adore Rose Byrne but I had a difficult time understanding her. And as her character became more intoxicated she sounded like she was chewing on marbles. She desperately needed a stage acting coach to work with her on he
TITANÍQUE Reviews
I saw the show last week and by all accounts I thought I had gotten a pretty good seat. It was in the mezzanine, row F house left. But I discovered, after the play began, that my sight lines were hampered by all of the staging that was done on the lip of the stage. I could barely see the actors. I finally had to put my seat up and sit on the apron. And then to top it off the balance between the Orchestra (too loud) and the singers was off, so I couldn’t hear a lot of the lyric
TWO STRANGERS (CARRY A CAKE ACROSS NEW YORK) Reviews
I saw the show last night. The two leads were charming especially Sam Tutty, but I found the book to be kind of so so. I wasn’t emotionally connected to it in any way. And the music with the exception of the opening number was not very memorable. I did not mind the staging so much although at times it was a bit distracting. The continuous motion propelled the story forward however. I think like Titanique, the show was a little slight for Broadway and I think I would&rsquo
