This is incredible!
The first time a Broadway show has ever been broadcast live.
Certainly not on my bingo card!
Wonderful step forward in making theatre accessible to the masses.
There goes the demand for $900 tickets, but yay for them!

They've recouped -- they have 3.5 weeks left in their run that are very well sold -- what's the downside??
And now I guess Clooney is Emmy eligible?
This is very exciting! Hopefully not a one off and a more common occurrence.
It’ll be available on HBO MAX shortly after.

Interesting. With the heavy use of screens, folks up in the mezzanine may feel like they’re already watching it on TV.
Suddenly I’m far less mad about their insane ticket prices.

Good for them. And I will get to see for myself if the many critiques of the show were justified.

I think the difference is that this is the first time a show will broadcast live on network or cable TV.

Eeeeh, they’ll both have the same amount of viewers. Lol.
Curious if they’ll air it in black and white like the movie and how the camera set up will be. Will they use multiple cameras or just a single steady shot.

I don't know if I agree with this.
Ask Taylor Swift fans if tickets to The Eras Tour became cheaper/easier to get after her film version premiere in theaters a year before the tour ended..AND it became available to stream on demand.
Has Hamilton been hurting because people can watch it on Disney+??
I think you'll find that in most cases, high quality video of live events only makes people want to see them live MORE (if they enjoy what they saw on streaming).

I believe it is the very first non-musical Broadway production to be broadcast live on network television.
In 1956, Peter Pan was telecast live on NBC from the Ambassador Theatre in front of an invited audience. One year earlier, the original production that closed at the Winter Garden Theatre reassembled at a studio where the show was first telecast live.
Good Night, and Good Luck might be the first play to be telecast live on cable from a regularly scheduled, paying audience.

Well then I guess it’s lucky for you that no one will be forced to watch it against their will.

No idea if they will emulate the movie and shoot in black and white (possible but unlikely, IMHO). But there's no way that a live network television broadcast, with all the attendant hoopla leading up to the broadcast, is going to do a 100-minute production of a Broadway show starring George Clooney and a cast of 20 using a single locked down camera. Heck, even standup comedy shows with one performer are multi-camera.
