Do you mean make it to New York?  I don't think Diner, First Wives ClubMystic Pizza, Flashdance or Desperately Seeking Susan made it. Sur

Peter Dinklage, Lupita Nypng'o, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Sandra Oh to star in Shakespeare in the Park's TWELFTH NIGHT
 Jul 10 2025, 08:08:56 PM

It's been trimmed to 90 minutes?  Why?  I always thought Twelfth Night was one of the more fleet-footed of Shakespeare's plays.

I know it's a bit in the future, but I am excited to see Samuel D. Hunter make his Broadway debut, not to mention another Laurie Metcalf performance.

Did anyone see it at the Steppenwolf?

PS:  There is a whole other thread to discuss Rudin.

Oh, are we back to hopping around on this pogo stick of outrage?

Tony Award-Winning Playwright Richard Greenberg (TAKE ME OUT, THREE DAYS OF RAIN) has died at 67
 Jul 6 2025, 07:30:26 PM

There was so much more to his work than Take Me Out.  He was a hell of a playwright.

New York needs to revive The Dazzle and finally give The Violet Hour the production it deserved.

WHITE AUSTRALIANS???  AND A WOMAN??!  NEVER!!!!!

Seriously though, this seems like an interesting idea for a musical and good for them for finding a property that isn't some worn to the stump movie from the 80s-90s.

One hell of a career!  So many great playwrights she helped launch.

Thomas Kail to direct Michelle Williams and Mike Faist in ANNA CHRISTIE for St. Ann's Warehouse

This is exciting.  I'm not sure how well the play has aged, but Williams and Faist...?  I'm in!

Why are audiences so poorly behaved these days?
 Jun 20 2025, 11:26:22 AM

Honestly, I think the agonies of the times are having a nihilistic, crazy-making effect on everyone.  Just ask the airlines (another situation where you're surrounded by people in one space).

Congratulations to Prince Faggot for it's critical and box office success!  It's always inspiring to see people respond to an off-Broadway show that isn't reaching for low hanging fruit (no pun intended).  Hats off to Playwrights Horizons, Soho Rep, and everyone else who doesn't think that art is meant to be baby-proofed.

As he is just on the verge of discovering his own sexuality, here comes a very high-profile play that not only speculates on his ultimatesexual identitybut also on specific sexual preferences, drug use, etc. Could the playwright have gotten his points across if he had written this play about a fictional prince? I don't care that he's royalty

Matthew Broderick & David Cross to co-star off-Broadway in new TARTUFFE written by Lucas Hnath
 Jun 16 2025, 02:37:57 PM

I wish they had done the original Moliere in the still-vital Wilbur translation and I think Broderick would be a better Orgon than Tartuffe.  However, his work off-Broadway has bested his recent work on Broadway by several yards so...this could be good!

Congrats to Maybe Happy Ending.  Not too shabby for a show that had everyone like, "It's about...what?" when it was first announced.
