I know it's a bit in the future, but I am excited to see Samuel D. Hunter make his Broadway debut, not to mention another Laurie Metcalf performance.
Did anyone see it at the Steppenwolf?
PS: There is a whole other thread to discuss Rudin.
This was in my top 10 list of things I saw last year and I can’t wait to see it again.

I saw it at Steppenwolf and it is a wonderful play, that is kind of about bonding through television. I'm curious if they will expand the set, at Steppenwolf it was just a leather recliner sofa, with a very imposing wooding backdrop, that felt like you were at the bottom of a cliff. Also, as someone who goes to a ton of Chicago Theater, I love to see Chicago actors making their broadway debuts, both John Drea ( who was an excellent Chagall in "Chagall at School") and Meghan Gerchais (who is a Chicago staple) are equally wonderful in the show.
Very few actors can do what Metcalf is capable of, so I always make it a point to see her on stage. Very much looking forward to this!
Add me to the praises! Loved it in Chicago. As someone who loves production, I didn’t mind the minimal approach. The acting and the story really drew me in. Metcalf is a marvel.

There's not even a website for this or any social media. Is the play still happening?

Honestly I don't think so.

“Is the play still happening?” They announced this production less than forty days ago.

Scott Rudin will need to improve his digital communications. That has never been his strong suit, and he can’t just do what he did in the past.

LOL. Honestly I keep holding out hope that because JPITV is doing so well, Scott Abuser needs to change his plans for this one.
Website is now live, social media pages are active (@littlebearridgeroad), and tickets are now on sale on Telecharge; prices begin at $74.
The show will run through February 15, not the 8th.

Any idea how this is selling? Recently noticed their signage at the Booth went up

I just took a look at some previews and it appears to be selling abysmally. Maybe 1/4 of seats gone? And some of those are holds for house seats, production, etc.
But this is not a surprise. Audiences buy later post-Covid, and Laurie Metcalf has a horrible box office track record. There is no incentive for ANYONE to buy early. It will discount and paper soon enough.
Everything about it has the air of “Scott Rudin Vanity Project.” Nobody should be spending more than TDF prices on in previews unless you’re dying to throw Scott a bone.
I loved it in Chicago, but I can’t see this being a commercial hit on Broadway. It’s a downer, and though the acting is first-rate, the subject matter is a tough sell. I do hope they tweak the set just a bit. The minimalism wasn’t a problem per se, but using the back of the sofa as a bar rail when the scene transitions to a local pub screamed cheap (and a bit lazy). They could also rethink the last couple of minutes. I’m not sure it quite accomplished everything it was trying to, and with a little massaging it could pack a mighty wallop.

Welcome to the season of downers...almost everything is serious and depressing. 2 strangers, Rocky Horror aside...the rest is really strange choices given the economics of the moment.
What happened to Cottonfield by Bruce Norris that was supposed to be coming in? the Barrymore is still vacant

“Horrible” is really an overstatement. Looking back over her last few shows, most of them have sold pretty well - namely THREE TALL WOMEN, DOLL’S HOUSE PART II, and HILLARY & CLINTON.
She chooses her projects and collaborators wisely (including her longstanding partnership with Joe Mantello) and doesn’t seem inclined to show up to Broadway once in a blue moon to only to do a star-driven revival of an overdone play. She’s a savvy and versatile actress.
To that end, TodayTix just had a sale and I got rear mezzanine for $54 (down from $79).
A Dolls House Part II only sold after it won a few Tony’s. Hillary & Clinton didn’t sell and closed early. Love Metcalf more than anything but she isn’t a draw.

While she is not a draw that turns big numbers at the box office, the woman consistently delivers excellent layered performances. I feel lucky to see her whenever she is on stage.
