Just have to wait until it arrives at my house. That's based on pre-orders not actual sales. That's why you state you saw this mentioned last week or so when the CD was slated for release on Sept 4 - today.Think about it, how can they have run out last week or so on an item that is released today?

When it was announced that the cast recording of the revival of "Chess" was being released on 9/4, I immediately pre-ordered it on Amazon. This morning when I was about to check my Amazon account on today's delivery status, I received an email from Amazon saying that there was a delay and it is now scheduled for delivery on September 30th. Did anyone else order it on Amazon? Any delays on your end, too? Thanks.

Sounds as if we are splitting hairs here. I never said Pauline Kael cared for the movie. I remember she specifically adored Dolly in the film. Thanks for the link of those films, John Adams. It's a very interesting list.

It's a consequence of the movie's focus on Burt and Dolly, and the invention of the Ed Earl-Mona relationship, which doesn't exist in the musical. Anything related to the girls other than Hard Candy Christmas was basically erased. In the musical, at least two of the Chicken Ranch girls have characters and actual names (in the movie none of them do; they're all credited as the Chicken Ranch Girls), and they have several numbers that ...

All the other main characters talk about them constantly and meet to decide their fate, andthey're basically portrayed as pawns in other people's games. (Compare this to Pretty Woman, which didn't come out that much later and which, whatever else you might think about it, shows us a sex worker who's very much in control of her own life.)I'm not saying ...

A brilliant revival. Was so fortunate to have seen it twice - November 2025, and April 2026. It deserved all the praise and accolades it received! I've yet to meet anyone who said that Caissie Levy only won her Tony Award because there was no other competition. Some just love to be negative. She was fantastic.
