O Mary rush
 Nov 22 2024, 06:59:12 PM

Saw the show on Saturday on a partial view seat that I purchased on Telecharge.  Was side Orchestra for $79.  Didn't really miss much of anything.  The show is hysterical, from the moment the curtain rises.  Just so much fun.

I think the doctor was right.  Zachery, you're not to supposed to drink the bong water, too.

re: Starlight Express--can ANYONE defend this show?

SE was the first Broadway show I ever saw in July 1988.  It was just so much fun.  Got a ticket at the TKTS booth 2 hours before curtain, and had dinner at Sizzler, where Ellen's Stardust Diner is now.  I had a great seat, way down front, inside the figure 8 set up, and each time the big skating would start, the plexiglass walls would come up, with the sounding alarm. Was the first time seeing Jane Krakowski.  And, I just couldn't get over how talented and stu

Hugh Jackman to hold 12-performance concert series at Radio City Music Hall
 Oct 9 2024, 11:32:19 AM

Great news.  Saw his 1 man show in San Francisco in May 2011, and saw it again later that year in November in NYC.  Loved it.

Two years later he brought the show to The Kodak Theatre in Hollywood for 1 performance.  Saw it again, as well as seeing his world tour at The Hollywood Bowl in July 2019.

Will definitely see him again at Radio City!

Any rumors about what production could be ready to replace
 Oct 3 2024, 04:20:21 PM

Quizking101, when you say they made the decision to hold off until next season because of the stacked deck of female-led musicals this coming season. Many were hoping for Menzel/Cheno rematch.

Who are the they you are referring to?

This is just so terrible.  So horrible.  What an incredible talent.

A three show day?
 Sep 26 2024, 11:18:31 AM

Yes, I've done it several times.  Like so many others here on the thread, will be doing a 3 show day in November - "Tammy Faye," "Oh, Mary" and "Sunset Blvd."

Many years ago, the best 3 show day was seeing a matinee of "Grey Gardens" with Christine E, evening show of "110 in the Shade" with Audra Mc, and Linda Eder at Feinsteins, at 11pm.  The entire day was sublime.

3 years ago today

ErmengardeStopSniveling, you are correct.  MR was one of the many shows that reopened around that time - thank goodness.  I mentioned MR since it was the 3 year anniversary, and was so thrilled to have been able to have been there - in the room when it happened.  Would I have liked to have been at all the reopenings?  Absolutely!

That would have racked up a lot of frequent flyer miles going back and forth from Los Angeles.  :)&nbs

3 years ago today "Moulin Rouge" reopened
 Sep 24 2024, 11:53:47 AM

Broadway came back 3 years ago today when "Moulin Rouge" reopened on September 24, 2021.  When tickets went on sale in May, I grabbed a front row Mezz seat.  That performance was just incredible.  The love, the energy.  It was like a rock concert, with each number stopping the show.  One of my most amazing theatre memories in my many, many decades of going to the theatre.

Were you there?

It's unfortunate that this has to happen.  And very good of them to be able to readjust in order to keep in business.  In summer 2008, I saw both "Mame" and "West Side Story" there.  Fantastic productions!!

Jennifer Lopez to Star in KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN Film
 Aug 16 2024, 02:23:05 PM

That's standard practice for test previews - to overbook.  I've seen many test screenings over the years, and I always get to the theatre at least 2 hours before the doors even open.  If you want to get in and get a seat, have to plan ahead.  I did get the email for the screening, but wasn't able to attend.  Looking forward to seeing it once it's released.

Happy 5th Anniversary, MOULIN ROUGE!

Great news!  Have seen MR multiple times, including the Re-opening performance in Sept 2021, coming out of Covid.  That performance was like a rock concert!  Just saw it again in May, as well.
