Jennifer Lopez to Star in KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN Film Mar 12
2025, 12:44:11 PM
Really looking forward to seeing this.
As we all know, once film rights are bought and sold, all bets are off. Unless it's in the terms of the contract that all the songs have to remain, no changes can be made, etc, then it's complete open season for changes. "Cabaret" is the perfect example.

Romer’s Hell Kitchen or Civilian Hotel? Feb 18
2025, 06:45:18 PM
Romer's is the former Hampton Inn. Stayed there many times when it was a Hampton, as I'm a loyal Hilton HHonors Diamond member. The rooms are very big and spacious, and I would always request a room not facing 8th Avenue. The rooms that face the opposite are very quiet. Hopefully when the hotel was rebranded and renovated, the size of the rooms didn't change.

April trip - trying to strategize Feb 17
2025, 05:49:49 PM
Take advantage of the 5pm curtain of "Mary." It's 90 minutes, and fits in perfectly when trying to see as many shows as possible. When I was in NYC in November, I was able to make it a 3 show day - "Tammy Faye," "Oh, Mary" and "Sunset" all in 1 day. With a 5pm curtain, it's great to be able to make it either a 2 show, or 3 show day.
Don't miss out on "Sunset Blvd." It's fantastic.&

Audience Rewards tix - can you exchange? Feb 17
2025, 03:17:05 PM
I was able to exchange my AR tickets on 2 separate occasions over the years, by calling their Customer Service phone number. This was before my trips to NYC. In speaking to the rep on the phone, he told me that the box office isn't able to do any exchanges. It's only on the phone. It was a number of years ago, and I assume the same policy is in place.

Liza: A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story - Official Trailer Feb 13
2025, 11:13:37 AM
BrodyFosse123, the Faye documentary was really very good. It was raw and real. What touched me the most, was how much her son, loves her. Seeing him getting choked up at the end when speaking about his mother, was extremely touching. There was that brief snippet of a newspaper headline that showed when she was let go from "Sunset Blvd" in Los Angeles from 1994. I had tickets to see it.
It's quite possible that the film ma

Will We Ever See a Best Little Whorehouse Revival? Feb 13

Would love to see a revival of BLWIT. I've never seen it as it's so rarely done. Timing is everything when it comes to Broadway shows.

Liza: A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story - Official Trailer Feb 12
2025, 12:21:56 PM
BrodyFosse123 and BRJ, it was interesting when Michael F said that Liza rarely speaks of her relationships, and keeps it private. Could be why she has a standard response. Never knew that David G took everything when they divoriced. It was a funny moment when Liza was with Michele Lee, and she said something to the effect of Liza's husbands never being men, and they all laughed.

TheatreMonkey, you're not the only one who has said that - about the truth. What is Liza not telling the truth about? The few that have commented, haven't explained what isn't truthful. Do you know?

Liza: A Truly Terrific Absolutely True Story - Official Trailer Feb 11

Saw the film last week at the Laemelle Glendale and really, really enjoyed it. So great to see so much archival footage from back when that wasn't the norm, like it is now. Will see it again this weekend.
And, even better news to find out that it will air on PBS on April 1st.

I'm still here, and joined in 2005 and have loved every minute of it since.
I met WithoutATrace shortly after joining the site on one of my trips to NYC, and we have been good friends ever since, and always get together when I'm in NYC.

re: Have you ever forgotten to turn your cell phone off during a broadway s Feb 3
2025, 01:31:25 PM
I remember this thread from back in 2008. Nice to see it being refreshed as this is always an ongoing issue when theatre goers don't turn their phone off. Don't put it on silent, or airplane mode. Just turn it off.
It's never happened to me as I don't have a cell phone. :)

Kelli O'Hara at the Ahmanson Feb 2
2025, 12:43:00 PM
Kelli is fantastic in concert! So incredibly talented. Thanks for posting your review and set list. I was torn between seeing her again last night, or seeing Eva Noblezada at The Soraya in Northridge. I opt'd for Eva.
By the way, Kelli's concert was at The Dorothy Chandler Pavillion.
