Broadway's Tony-winning revival of Jason Robert Brownand Alfred Uhry's Parade will embark on a national tour beginning in January 2025. The production will launch from Minneapolis' Orpheum Theatre. Casting and further dates are to be announced.
The official premiere in Minnesota will follow technical rehearsals and public preview performances as Proctors Theatre in Schenectady, New York.
I get schedules were at play, but it’s a shame this production couldn’t do LA/DC/Chicago runs after it closed on Broadway. A small tour using the Broadway set was its best bet in my eyes

I would love if some Broadway cast members are promoted to leads on the tour!

Some (if not most) of the supporting cast will def reprise their roles.
Would love to see Brandon Uranowitz do this tour! I love him and think he would be fantastic!!!
Ben Platt should play the bigger cities like Chicago, LA, & San Francisco. It could help his career more than his solo tour did. I finally watched Theatre Camp, and it is amusing but is perhaps too "inside baseball" to reach a wider audience than just theatre fans. Getting better known outside New York might help him also reach a wider audience with his film career.
I doubt Uranowitz would do it. I really hope it comes to DC. The Broadway production was SO good and felt like it would tour really well.

I think he would do it in a heartbeat. From what I remember, he was fighting to do this role on Broadway way before the recent revival was done. Since you are from DC like me, I hope you saw his brilliant turn in Studios Theatres "Torch Song". I would love to see him do the tour.

I love this.
This show was ahead of its time. Remember the original NYT review and then it limping along for just a few months.....well, look who got the last laugh.
CONGRATS, PARADE.
Max Chernin and Talia Suskauer will lead the tour as Leo and Lucille Frank, respectively.

Saw Max when he covered for Ben. He was incredible.
I guess Suskauer’s online temper tantrum about not being cast in the Funny Girl tour is being rewarded…
Not everyone has to be cancelled when they do stupid things. Especially the first time.

Lmao. I agree with binau. Give her a break.
Anyone know if Raphael Warnock is still doing the pre show announcement for the tour? I thought that was a nice little “easter egg” when I saw the broadway production.

I'm planning on seeing the tour in Minneapolis next weekend. I'll keep an ear out.

Attended opening last night and can confirm that Warnock indeed still does the intro.
Very good show, filled with impressive vocals and vastly superior to a lot of the touring crap we've been getting lately. The score was quite pretty and there were half a dozen "good" songs but the show really needed a BIG memorable song to stand out.

I caught the show last night as well and, for the most part, it knocked my socks off. Chernin is indeed spectacular, beautifully leading this massive cast. I remember see the tour cast back in 2000 and finding the show a bit hard to warm to but this really sweeps you up. You can tell the cast is still getting into their rhythm, a few flubbed lines here but by and large this company is thrilling when they sing as once.
My only real disappointment was Talia Susaker's performance. Maybe it's the years with Wicked and the need to express emotion through the green make-up, but both the acting and singing are a little cartoonish. She's saddled with a strange accent on top of already singing slightly at the top of her comfort zone mix range, and I found her acting a bit amateurish, especially compared to Chernin's grounded, moving performance. It's so early in the run, it's unfair to full judge the performance just as it's getting on its feet, though.
One thing to note, if you're sitting in the pit, my friends told me that the high stage obstructed their views of the projections. Sitting so close was emotionally involving but not seeing the full picture of Arden's staging because of all the obstructions was disappointing (according to them)

Re "saddled with a strange accent" I had the same problem with Micaela Diamond (who I loved in Here We Are)

Caught the final matinee this afternoon, and it was a truly beautiful piece of theatre. The songs were gorgeously sung, and the combination of choreography, set pieces, and protections did an excellent job of immersing the audience into the world of 1910s Atlanta. Thematically, this is of course a very dark show, but not overwhelmingly show - there are enough bits of warmth, humor, and hope that keep the audience from being overwhelmed by despair.
Not being familiar with the show, I wasn't expecting it to be as much of an ensemble piece it was, and honestly for a story like this that's the right way to go about it. Leo and Lucille are the beating heart of the story, but we also see the tragedy from the perspective from many other perspectives, from the media (I particularly appreciated the portrayal of reporters as amoral vultures who care about nothing more than advancing their careers) to other politicians, to a heartbreaking portrayal of the boy who had a crush on Mary Phagan.
The production is seamless - you'd never guess this was a touring production. Aside from a few moments where the sound balance was off, it went without a hitch. And I can confirm they still use Reverand Raphael Warnock's intro.
