Broadway Break Up Songs?
 Feb 6 2020, 10:47:54 PM
Listen to Christiane Noll’s great album “a broadway love story”

It’s the story of a woman recovering from a breakup and finding the strength to move on.

Also “we do not belong together” from “Sunday in the park” always makes me cry.

“Be on your own” from Nine.

The dog whistle of phones in theater article
 Oct 3 2019, 12:52:23 PM
Yeah, but even in the movie theaters now, announcements come on the screen beforehand that say if you are causing a distraction, you will be removed from the theater. Every young person goes to the movies. They know they aren’t supposed to be on their phones. Feigning ignorance won’t work here.
Choir = Phys. Ed?
 Sep 9 2019, 03:39:34 PM
These kids are singing John Rutter arrangements of “Lo, how a rose E’re blooming”, not a 6 hour Wagner opera.

It’s not exhausting. I did choir as well as a smaller chamber choir, complete with basic suburban jazz hand box step spirit finger choreo, and didn’t break a sweat once.

Mistakes on cast albums
 Aug 25 2019, 09:47:08 AM
Of course the best will always be Elaine Stritch’s horribly flat caterwauling on the last held out “we loooooooove”. The engineer finally fades out her mic and it makes me laugh every time.

Close second- on the OBC of “Anyone Can Whistle” during “me and town”, The men are doing backups of “doo doo waaaaah, doo doo wadda wah” near the end of the song and one guy forgets to cut off, so you hear one final plosive “D”. It makes me smile.

West Side Story Revival Marquee-What are they thinking?
 Aug 23 2019, 08:49:55 AM
you Guys realize that, outside of broadway nerd circles, NO ONE knows who Ramasar is....... like NO ONE.

And if they hear of the disgusting ways he’s handled himself, they will most likely have already bought their tickets. They won’t care.

I agree that it’s not a good look if this production is trying to prove how woke they are, but that’s their issue and all will come out in the wash.

his casting will not affect the box office whatsoever.

What composer has the best singing voice?
 Jul 28 2019, 05:08:45 PM

Most of the suggestions here were already pop stars BEFORE they were composers.... so obviously they are going to have nice voices. I guess that’s fine because the rules weren’t set, but I’d imagine this is more about people who are more known for their composing then their singing.....

Saddest musical?

The Scottsboro Boys- one of the saddest true stories in American history makes for a truly sad musical.
Mixed reviews in- is Moulin Rouge a Big Far Hit?
 Jul 27 2019, 01:54:43 PM
Yes. I was referring to the person above me.

I think right now people are used to super long runs for super blockbuster shows (mormon, Aladdin, Beautiful), but long runs like that are recent phenomena.

No one should look at Matilda and say word of mouth didn’t work for that show. If it REALLY didn’t have word of mouth, that show would have had a year run at most, IMO.

Sometimes shows can walk that line of being successful without lasting a decade on broadway. “Waitre

Mixed reviews in- is Moulin Rouge a Big Far Hit?

Why are people citing Matilda as a failure? It had an almost 4 year run on broadway. That’s a very healthy, respectable run, especially considering there were quite a few other musicals shooting to win the family demographic for that time.....

FRANKIE AND JOHNNY closes July 28th
 Jul 10 2019, 09:43:11 AM
I saw it last night, the first performance after the closing notice. Bought a mezz ticket. It was 90% empty. A very depressing sight. I moved up to the second row center, so my view was fantastic.

I wasn’t familiar with the play, and I enjoyed it, I think mostly due to the fantastic performances by McDonald and Shannon.

But the saddest part of the night was during the curtain call. With the knowledge of the closing, Audra looked up into an empty mezzanine and I saw so much sa
