Didn’t something like this happen with the most recent Cabaret revival? I recall them having to cancel a performance and then taking a day to rehearse Alan Cumming’s understudy.

Yes, that's usually the case.
Every year, there are a few stories of an understudy going on "by the seat of their pants" with minimal rehearsal and makeshift costumes. True unsung heroes of Broadway...and sometimes they cover more than one role!
Erin David has addressed it on her IG story. Says she had something go down her throat that caused swelling on the throat itself and her vocal chords. She should be fine soon with a little time! Glad to hear it’s not crazily serious. I can’t wait to see her in this.

Holly's amazing and probably got two full days to learn the role. I'd expect Holly to be on tomorrow as well.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Saw the show tonight. Holly’s performance was excellent given the circumstances. If I didn’t follow theater would never have noticed she wasn’t full time.
I enjoyed it for what it was. Score is pretty bad, made me enjoy the scenes though. I think the real issue is the tacky lyrics. Performances are pretty strong and singing is great. Paparazzi dancing ensemble is pretty terrible. Will see it again for Erin Davie.
