So 'witch' was worse, Redwood or Queen of Versailles?

Lempicka and boop, for sure.  But redwood?  I enjoy it like I enjoy pop music, but not as a dramatic piece watching/listening to it in a theatre.

I get it’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, but the glee in its closing is what’s interesting to me.  Why are they so happy in this flop in the way that Redwood or Boop or Swept Away didn’t get.

Ohmygod that was amazing!!  Very performance arty and you have to just go with it, but I’d highly recommend it.  And it just extended a week til the 14th.  I love it stylistically where it’s so weird and ridiculous but they’re playing it serious and the audience has a scattered reaction, people laughing, people gasping, people amused.  I loved it.  It’s over three hours by the way.  Excellent performances all around especially Ronald Peet.

Are broadway audiences that liberal that a story about a very rich woman offends them?  My goodness, Broadway is literally the worst place to do theater these days given the environment and the economics.  It’s tragic

I thought all of that was half assed honestly.  The monologue at the end when she reveals what happened to the son felt way more elitist than anything I saw in Versailles.  Both have kids who die of drug overdoses, Idina comes across as a Karen the entire way through, and puts her entitled kid on a plane to LA.

Kristin Chenoweth plays it like she wants this big house full of friends and family and pets, she even takes in her brother’s kid and tre

Finally seeing it this afternoon, the show should start imminently.  The first act is 2 hours.  It runs through December 7.  Will Brill is here, I just saw him on stage last Saturday

The sad thing is people are under the impression that the musical is some sort of right wing thing.  It’s not.  It’s literally Gypsy in the beginning with a Sunset Boulevard finish.  That’s the show.  What are people so turned off/ offended by?  Because clearly you haven’t seen it.

The Queen of Versailles is a million times better than Redwood.  Versailles is a book musical with a dramatic score.  Standout songs include Caviar Dreams, Little Houses, Pretty Wins, This is Not the Way my Movie Ends, that song where she’s becoming a personality, watch?  Redwood is more of a concept musical with pop songs.

Kristin Chenoweth’s performance is one of the greatest performances in musical theater history.  What she’s doing up there is unlike anything Broadway has seen before, completely original, authentic, full of grit, pathos and comedy.  One of the truly great actresses of the Broadway stage, frankly one of the greatest actresses working today.  I am totally blown away by her.
