I saw the movie and really liked, but then again I was a fan of the first part.
The fact that a 50 minute second act was turned into a 2h movie helps to bring some solutions, but also expose some problems.
Aside from a gorgeous ''Thank Goodness'', the fact that we have to deal with ''Wonderful'' and Elphaba's new solo doesn't help because I'm not necessarily a fan of this animal subplot.

People didn't wish her any harm, her fandom is great, people were just upset that didn't happened.
Her ''don't wish danger on us'' was not necessary, Grande has just been lacking attention on Brazil (her third, I guess, biggest market) and people got frustrated.

This is expecting to open with 3M, the reviews are mid (61 at Metacritic) and its not that famous of a title.
It's not going anywhere.

I'm especially shooked about the amount of LEAD ACTRESS IN A PLAY contenders that we already have:
Jean Smart, Call Me Izzy
Carrie Coon, Bug
Ayo Edebiri, Proof
June Squibb, Marjorie Prime
Laurie Metcalf, Little Bear Ridge Road
Lesley Manville, Oedipus
And we don't know who is playing Becky Shaw and possible contenders from PUNCH and LIBERATION.

As a die hard fan of Williams that didn't have money at 23 to go to NY in 2016 I love that most people think she was the #1 of that line-up.

I think Death Becomes Her is the one with the harder path to recoup as it costs 30M + the weekly costs are very high, but they are open for almost year and doing good business with an excellent WOM, so why not?
I think BVSC was the sleeper hit of the season, but they found their audience and will recoup.
Just in Time recoups, no dout.
And Maybe Happy Ending has a strong WOM, was doing great numbers before the Tonys, with the amount of love that it got from there, it shoul

Also, JUST IN TIME being the biggest hit of the new musicals were not on my bingo card of 2025.
The fact that not one, not two, but FIVE original musicals can recoup/be hits from one single season is wild.
When was the last time this happened?
