I’m not surprised by this. There was a rumor floating around Reddit that the principals were asked to take a pay cut to keep the show going. 
 

The show really could have been great had some effort been put into updating the show with modern references, instead of the same ones from 20 years ago. Not to mention the recycled costumes (I know a few of Leslie’s were new) and staging. 

I saw that, and thank you for the link. I have that version, I was hoping for one of the newer ones (especially the 20th anniversary one)

I’m seeing the tour next Sunday and I was wondering if they’re still selling window cards? The wicked merch website doesn’t have one listed currently, nor does playbill. 

Caught the show this past Friday. The cast seemed uniformly strong with Matt Rodin’s Jamie being a standout. I found Britney Coleman to be an excellent Bobbie, although her “Being Alive” was a little less visceral than I’d prefer. It’s a hell of a good time even if you, like me, are not the biggest fan of the show’s book. 

I’m seeing this next Friday here in Detroit. In what I think is a rarity the tour has its own unique windowcard, as opposed to using the Broadway one. 

If I recall correctly, didn’t Fisher have difficulty with the high notes in Dear Evan Hansen? Orpheus is written much higher…

I’m hoping Michael Wartella gets to play Orpheus 

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Give Amber Ardolino a shot as Velma.

my guess is that there’s lyric changes to remove some of the innuendo lines;

 “…Henry’s little— Prick up your ears…” and         “I guess he really liked my head” come to mind. 

probably some key changes too.

I think that Susan Egan would be an inspired choice for Joanne. She’s the right age (she’s actually older than Stritch was in the original), And she’s got the right acerbic bite to her. 

Here in Detroit tickets are going for $145 in the orchestra for this. Comparatively I caught the Lion King and Beetlejuice for under $70 (58 and 68 respectively)

That is correct. 

I caught the tour in Detroit last year. I haven’t seen the show on Broadway, but I will say I was underwhelmed by some of the scenic elements, specifically pride rock, which looked about 7 feet tall. Also both Nala and Sarabi sounded like Minnie Mouse when they sang, which really makes some of the songs lose impact.

Based on the fact that there’s already a duplicate set piece built (as appeared on The Voice) I’d lay good odds on Independently Owned being performed.

William Ivey Long (whom I adore) seems to REALLY be phoning in new designs for the ensemble.  Why change what’s not broken?
