Norbert Leo Butz returning to Wicked as the Wizard

Is October too early for Broadway Cares Windowcards?

Thanks for the quick answer. I figured it was wishful thinking.

Is October too early for Broadway Cares Windowcards?
 Sep 10 2024, 04:38:08 PM

I’m heading to the city for my honeymoon, first time back since moving to the Midwest, in early October. I’m hoping that the shows we are seeing will have signed windowcards for sale. Is it too early?

Musicals that will never be revived on Broadway
 May 20 2024, 12:34:21 PM

I disagree about Something Rotten. It’s a fun, well structured show with a massively showy supporting role. Given enough time it could run again.

I will, however, add Anything Goes to the list. No matter how many times it’s been rewritten, it still hinges on the (typically white) principal characters masquerading as Chinese. Also “The Gypsy in Me”, which is now largely considered a slur.

What is the worst production you have ever seen on Broadway? What is the worst show?
 May 18 2024, 05:11:16 PM

Of the three dozen-ish shows I’ve seen on Broadway and on tour, the worst was Bullets Over Broadway. It had its moments, and a stacked cast, but they all deserved a better show.

TODAY Show “Best of Broadway” Week 2024
 May 15 2024, 12:25:47 PM

Menken Fan said: "Are they lip syncing all of these performances? It sure seemed like it to me so far."

Jonalyn Saxer explained this once on TikTok. The leads sing live, the ensemble is (usually) lip syncing. It makes it easier on the tv sound guys as opposed to balancing the whole cast.

Robyn Hurder is going to be a breath of fresh air.

also Mikayla Renfrow has joined the cast as Liz/ u/s Velma

SPAMALOT sets closing date
 Mar 6 2024, 11:24:25 AM

I’m not surprised by this. There was a rumor floating around Reddit that the principals were asked to take a pay cut to keep the show going.

The show really could have been great had some effort been put into updating the show with modern references, instead of the same ones from 20 years ago. Not to mention the recycled costumes (I know a few of Leslie’s were new) and staging.

Wicked Window Cards?

I saw that, and thank you for the link. I have that version, I was hoping for one of the newer ones (especially the 20th anniversary one)

Wicked Window Cards?
 Feb 10 2024, 06:28:36 PM

I’m seeing the tour next Sunday and I was wondering if they’re still selling window cards? The wicked merch website doesn’t have one listed currently, nor does playbill.

COMPANY Revival On Tour - News & Discussion Thread
 Oct 29 2023, 04:22:31 PM

Caught the show this past Friday. The cast seemed uniformly strong with Matt Rodin’s Jamie being a standout. I found Britney Coleman to be an excellent Bobbie, although her “Being Alive” was a little less visceral than I’d prefer. It’s a hell of a good time even if you, like me, are not the biggest fan of the show’s book.

I’m seeing this next Friday here in Detroit. In what I think is a rarity the tour has its own unique windowcard, as opposed to using the Broadway one.

Jordan Fisher will be the new Orpheus in HADESTOWN
 Oct 9 2023, 03:59:08 PM

If I recall correctly, didn’t Fisher have difficulty with the high notes in Dear Evan Hansen? Orpheus is written much higher…

New Hadestown Casting

I’m hoping Michael Wartella gets to play Orpheus

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Give Amber Ardolino a shot as Velma.

Something Rotten, although it features Shakespeare the plot is original.

Changes to Six School addition
 Aug 23 2023, 10:34:07 PM

*Edition

my guess is that there’s lyric changes to remove some of the innuendo lines;

“…Henry’s little— Prick up your ears…” and         “I guess he really liked my head” come to mind.

probably some key changes too.

SPAMALOT To Play The St James This Fall

Well it is a transfer of that production…

I think that Susan Egan would be an inspired choice for Joanne. She’s the right age (she’s actually older than Stritch was in the original), And she’s got the right acerbic bite to her.

Here in Detroit tickets are going for $145 in the orchestra for this. Comparatively I caught the Lion King and Beetlejuice for under $70 (58 and 68 respectively)
