I really enjoyed the performances from The Outsiders. One thing I noticed (which I didn't notice when I saw the show on stage) is that the brothers seem to have been coached to sing in a very similar style (for lack of a better word, I'd call it "grungy").

I don’t believe so. You can clearly see they have their mics on, and I don’t think they would go out of their way to put mics on if they weren’t going to use live vocals.

Jonalyn Saxer explained this once on TikTok. The leads sing live, the ensemble is (usually) lip syncing. It makes it easier on the tv sound guys as opposed to balancing the whole cast.
"Grease," the fourth revival of the season, is the worst show in the history of theater and represents an unparalleled assault on Western civilization and its values. - Michael Reidel
Dorian Harewood, Maryann Plunkett, Carson Stewart, Dorcas Leung, Hillary Fisher, John Cardoza, and Jordan Tyson performing "Dance With Me / Carry You Home":
Ryan Vasquez performing "Leave the Light On":
Joy Woods, Jordan Tyson, and the company of The Notebook performing "I Wanna Go Back":
I'm not sure The Notebook was done a favor with this showcase. The characters presented at different ages is made clear in the theater, but it looked clunky and confusing on TV, with all those people wandering around in random circles. Vasquez sounded off to me, like he was trying to find his pitch in the pre-recorded backing track. I was hoping Joy Woods would do "My Days," but maybe they don't want to give that one away for free.
Just remembering you've had an "and"
When you're back to "or"
Makes the "or" mean more than it did before
Joy Woods already performed My Days on Kelly Clarkson’s daytime talk show. They probably just wanted to perform something different.

Hi, new to the notebook musical here but saw their performance on the today show.
Have they changed the story for the musical to be an older couple retelling a love story about different people they once knew, or the telling of a fable about fictional people in love? Just trying to piece together the different performances from yesterday.
No it’s still them as their younger selves. It’s color blind casting so the young and middle Allie are black and young and middle Noah are both white Latin. I’ve heard people criticize this because the race only changes with the older couple. But I think it’s pretty clear in the staging and writing that it’s them
