What is the worst production you have ever seen on Broadway? What is the worst show?

[title of show], Guttenberg the Musical, Scandalous, Come From Away top my list.

Interesting that you said title of show. I thought that was a classic or soemthing

I loved Come From Away. I hated A View From A Bridge- that latest one from that Dutch director- whose work I detest. I saw All About Eve in London and he ruined that one too.

BKLYN

Worst: A Bronx Tale (the musical)
Most Misguided: 2009 Guys & Dolls revival
Most Overrated: The Band's Visit

Worst was TELETHON, but this GREAT GATSBY is a close second.

I haven't seen that many shows, but out of the ones I have seen, New York New York was by far the worst.

I'm stealing WormWood's scale:
Worst Show: Walking With Ghosts
Most Misguided: The Collaboration
Most Overrated: Shucked

Getting The Band Back Together was so bad it made me actually angry

I thought this little skit called Hamilton early in its Broadway run was pretty bad…
…ass.

The Lightening Thief fits the bill for both worst production and show I've ever seen. Special shoutout to Charlie and The Chocolate Factory too, though - that was absolutely abysmal.

Still, to this date, for me, is Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark, but Gatsby comes in at a close second, followed by Gutenberg.

Absolutely has to be Memphis. Utterly baffling.
A few dishonorable mentions: Pirate Queen, Pretty Woman, The Last Ship, Frank Wildhorn’s Dracula. And, yes, Great Gatsby.

Sunset Blvd revival with Glen Close talking her way through the songs.

It Shoulda Been You. It was painful.

I'll second Leap of Faith. Although I have yet to see Gatsby.

Rocky! Beautiful set but some of the worst songs most and baffling creative choices I’ve ever experienced at a broadway musical.
Honorable mention to Chaplin. The decision to put almost everyone in white face paint still haunts me

I can't believe I'm the first person to mention Lysistrata Jones. That's the closest I have ever come to leaving a Broadway show at intermission.

Hated If/Then. Trying to be high art, and so tedious.
Posted: 5/18/24 at 8:20am
I am chuckling once again thinking about the best part of Leap of Faith for me was reading Whizzer’s review. I don’t think I ever laughed so much. I specifically recall the exquisite detail of the gent on crutches trying to make a getaway exit up the center aisle before intermission.

Worst Overall Production: Paradise Square - or as I called it - LesMiseRagtime
Worst Structure (Book, Score): Scandalous. Woof.
Most Overrated: The Lion King & Aladdin - I finally saw these just to be able to cross off theatres I haven’t been in yet, and both shows are just remarkably bland mass-tourism fare. TLK is better structurally, but Aladdin basically is lifeless when the Genie isn’t on stage.
