I loved Come From Away. I hated A View From A Bridge- that latest one from that Dutch director- whose work I detest. I saw All About Eve in London and he ruined that one too.
The Lightening Thief fits the bill for both worst production and show I've ever seen. Special shoutout to Charlie and The Chocolate Factory too, though - that was absolutely abysmal.
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
Still, to this date, for me, is Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark, but Gatsby comes in at a close second, followed by Gutenberg.
The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince
I am chuckling once again thinking about the best part of Leap of Faith for me was reading Whizzer’s review. I don’t think I ever laughed so much. I specifically recall the exquisite detail of the gent on crutches trying to make a getaway exit up the center aisle before intermission.
Worst Overall Production: Paradise Square - or as I called it - LesMiseRagtime
Worst Structure (Book, Score): Scandalous. Woof.
Most Overrated: The Lion King & Aladdin - I finally saw these just to be able to cross off theatres I haven’t been in yet, and both shows are just remarkably bland mass-tourism fare. TLK is better structurally, but Aladdin basically is lifeless when the Genie isn’t on stage.
