According to someone I know connected with the company, the ink has dried and he will be announced as the new Orpheus tomorrow morning, starting on 11/21.

I like him more than the average BWWer, but not a "fan" per se and I'm concerned with his attendance. I will likely see him though.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Probably a late January closing. I'll guess January 28. Kudos to the Orpheus understudies!
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Is he a draw, though? I feel like he's been on Broadway enough in the past few years it doesn't seem like a major "get," and I'd assume this will ride them out through a January closing and something else can take over for the Spring.

I’m sure the understudies will be much respected, but this won’t quite be a Benko story. She steered Funny Girl through an uncertain summer before Michele was able to start and rescue the show. Hadestown went into the black long, long ago and it’s already had itself a solid run.
It’s also a different situation: Hadestown is a successful production of a good show that is starting to lose steam and is looking to extend. Funny Girl was an iffy production of a historically bae show, kept on life support by a gifted understudy’s breakout performance… until a star came in who turned a bad show into a must-see experience despite the show’s weaknesses.
Whoever the powers may be, please stop trying to make Jordan Fisher a thing; Keep him on twitch and the gamer boy side of the entertainment industry.

I think he’s very talented, but his attendance really is an issue. Great news for the understudies!

The rumor on the other thread is Ani DiFranco will be joining the cast at some point so if that’s true, they have to think they’ll be around for a while.

Betty Who has barely been a draw, so I can’t imagine the pull another niche pop-rock artist would have

I think DiFranco has much more of a following. Betty Who is well known in the queer music scene but I don’t think she’s the type to have fans flying across country to see her. And Jordan… I don’t get the appeal? He seems to always be just a little bit off in everything he’s done. Or just unreliable.
Jordan Fisher is one of the most reliably unreliable actors working today, both in talent and attendance. Maybe he has a following because he’s cute and charming, but how he keeps booking such high-profile work is beyond me.
If I recall correctly, didn’t Fisher have difficulty with the high notes in Dear Evan Hansen? Orpheus is written much higher…
