"'WICKED' - THE FILMS" IN CONCLUSION...
 Nov 25 2025, 02:03:31 AM

I ****ADORED***** the first film.  I was expecting more of the same.  I am NOT a fan of the stage show (yeah, I'm weird) but loved that movie.  We saw the new film this weekend, and I realized they already used up most of the original score in the first film.  The songs weren't as good.  I was bored and went to the lobby more than a few times.

The film WAS gorgeous, it wasn't bad, but it didn't pack the same PUNCH as the first one.  They sh

Sure, word-of-mouth was largely negative, but it was grossing over $1 million a week at the time of this notice — if that's not at least somewhat safe these days for a musical, then what is?
"

I thought the same thing. I have NO interest in the subject matter, but the set looks cool.  I thought this was hitting over 1mil a week, according to posted profits.

I am not sure what all the side stories are, didn't mean to stir up more snarkiness.  Literally just asking if I can change my username.  Its not a new one, I've had it for a decade plus.

Sorry if I opened wounds for someone?

attn mods? "Name" change/funny story
 Nov 22 2025, 07:07:43 AM

Hi mods..

Many years ago I was in NYC by surprise and created my account here -- very quickly.  I had previously remembered an endearing funny/crazy girl from high school named Shomeika.  I was hurried so made that my "account" name. Is there any way to change this to "Clint" or for that matter, anything else? Ha!

If not, I shall remain MS SHOMEIKA JONES!

Putting this in the previews thread to not bog down the "reviews" one.  I am just dreaming or thinking outside the box.

So, since Florence "is a chess guru, best of the best, Freddie's second" wouldn't it have been SCANDALOUS if when Freddie/Freddy (??) dropped out they pushed Florence into his place...  She "playing against" her new boo.... ooooh wee.....scandaloso?  Sounds fun to me.

True that!  Insanely massive.  I hope it has legs.  Look, I adore Chess. I adore this production (mostly) but if this version doesn't work out - IMO they need to give this show a rest.

Thanks if anyone knows.

Somehow I have lost my Playbill.  Surely this was a huge oversight!  He did well in that role.  Hopefully they will fix!

I loved the show-  truly I did.  Lea, Aaron, Nik, all fab.

The reviews are as I suspected.  I still wish that they would have cut the stupid jokes - talking directly to the audience in real time (2025) - from the Arbiter, I mean narrator. I mean Bryce.  Or in the words of Molina "Only At The Movies" ---WHATEVER IT IS!

Maybe they should have just called it Chess in Concert.

Some reviews we

I'm thinking of Benny, Bjorn and Tim especially today, after they felt so burned 37 years ago, particularly Tim and Bjorn. I will be interested to see if Bjorn is there for the opening night given he didn't come to the Sitzprobe with Tim and Benny.
For them in particular I hope its a success.
"

I know (well I suppose) Bjorn will be there as he posted from Mamma Mia! in NYC on his insta.  I betcha that Benny will be there as well. I would be thrilled if Frida came (she goes to ABBA Voyage in London all the time), but would bet that Agnetha will *NOT* be there.

I'm so nervous for reviews! crying

Well, today is the day for Chess.  I am so excited.  I have followed this show for four decades.  I'm old af.

My favourite musicians, Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus wrote the score, the melodies, and their did their part with perfection, coming out the gate with accolades and landing hits in the 80's.  The Tim Rice book just didn't fare as well.   I am just praying that crtitics like the book this time.  As a side note, I had seen &

Jennifer Lopez to Star in KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN Film
 Nov 14 2025, 04:00:52 AM

I purchased a digital copy last night, and watched the film again.  I enjoyed it even more than the first time.  Tonatiuh and Diego, or whatever the rough trade's name was were excellent. And I will say, Jennifer was good too.  She was probably better in this than in anything she has done. Granted she is no Chita Rivera nor even Vanessa Williams (who was fab and has articulation for daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaays), but J-ho was pretty darn good.

I think J-Lo
