Curious why they waited until then? Next week will likely see a dip in grosses due to the July 4th week/weekend. Brave of them to have waited so long when the show was bleeding money since day 1.

And start the countdown for when that Showbiz doofus pops on and says "I told you so". Even though he didn't.

25 previews, 112 regular performances.
This was a tough sell from the start, as is most every family-friendly musical not under the Disney moniker.
I still believe the cast album will turn out to be a lucrative part of the show's future once the licensing rights are picked up. This'll be a big, big hit in schools.
And what of Jasmine Amy Rogers? If she decides to stay in theatre, and she should, I really hope they stick her in LITTLE SHOP (with her good friend Morgan Ashley Bryant) until a plum supporting role comes around in a Scott Rudin revival.
Happy it’s holding on, we have had tickets for July 12th through passport since before it opened lol

They will be probably be getting ready for the closing night party. This should give them plenty of time to figure out where the party is being held.
One of the most fun times I've ever had in the theatre - once in Chicago, twice on Broadway, and hopefully one or two more times for my memories. Such a special show.
Also, this closing frees up Stephen DeRosa for QUEEN OF VERSAILLES, which should probably give him steady work from the start of rehearsals until around early-mid December.
Has anyone else seen the show with the Betty understudy Victoria Byrd? She is AMAzing!

At the end of the day, tough to sell this IP in 2025 on Broadway.
Very glad I saw this. Such a charming and well-crafted piece of escapism, and Jasmine Amy Rogers is destined for a great career.

Yeah, I caught Victoria a few weeks ago. Having not seen Jasmine so not accounting for a natural star quality that can’t be replicated, I can’t imagine someone giving a stronger performance of the role as written. She was very charming.

You think being the 18th replacement Audrey is a great career move?

Same. The gloating vultures on here are as pathetic as always. Oh well. They got their wish for all the closings. Now maybe they’ll all shut the f*ck up for a little while, until they all start rooting for the next set of closings.

Thanks Boop! You are the 'Most Fun' of the class of 2025 season! Well, along with Oh, Mary of course.
LOVE the negative Nellies here are soooo bother by you. Makes me giggle. Thanks again, Boop! See you on the road!
I just adored Jasmine. I was hoping to get back to see understudy Victoria Byrd who I loved in Cheek to Cheek at the York. Oh well.
I had a great time at Boop! Bummed to see it closing, but grateful it hung around for a bit.

I'm happy I got to see this earlier this month. It was my sons' first show on Broadway. They really enjoyed it. I think we can all remember our first Broadway show. It was cool seeing it through their eyes. It also gave us the Broadway debut of Jasmine Amy Rogers. I hope she has some projects in the pipeline. I would love to see her on the stage again soon.

Cast albums are notorious money-losers for all but the biggest of big hit shows, especially in an age of streaming.
Yes, the show will get licensed lots, and maybe it will even do a non-Equity tour, and those income streams will slooooowly chip away at the $26 million capitalization for the next twenty years. It likely won't be lucrative for anyone but the authors.
Looking forward to the script-doctored Encores production in 2049.

The authors have to share 40% of their royalty income with the Broadway producers. This is generally for a term of at least 10 years from date of closing, sometimes more. Thus, if this gets a licensing deal, the producers share 40% of the advance and future royalties.

A technicality (which you may know but I'm clarifying for others) -
All that money goes to the entity that was created to put on the show, so the producers themselves won't see any money until the investors are paid back 100%. It's pennies on the dollar to pay back $26 million. Yes, the investors will see money, but the likelihood of making it to 100% is slim. I doubt this is going to do SEUSSICAL or ADDAMS FAMILY licensing numbers.
I also assume there was a Priority Loan to keep it running (it has lost money every week of its run), which would be on top of the $26 million, and a Priority Loan needs to be paid back in full before any of the show's original investors see a dime. Quick back-of-napkin math says they lost about $6 million so far. Loans are also a way to do more advertising. The Loan could easily be $5 mil.

wouldn't be surprised if she jumps into something rather quickly.
