re: WSS Revival- Dance At The Gym  Mar 26 2009, 01:49:29 AM
""The worst Broadway Anita" may be the first Anita to ever win the Tony."

So? She can sing and act the sh*t out of that role... so if she wins, that's why.

Doesn't make her any better. She can't dance. That is the biggest element of the character (and the majority of the characters!). It truly is a shame.

Karen is talented but not up to Robbins standards. I hope that when (and if) she is replaced, they work on finding a better dancer for the role.

re: So it wasn't THAT bad ... Guys and Dolls, 3/25, 8 p.m.  Mar 26 2009, 01:44:39 AM
If you want to see an example of how you can completely screw up a close-to-perfect musical, then go see this revival.

Casting was terrible and uninspiring... projections were atrocious and distracting... the idea to insert a Damon Runyon character is pointless and foolish.... and the blocking/stage direction reminds me of a middle school "Schoolhouse Rock" performance.

Best things about this? The orchrestra (with beautifully revised arrangements/orchestrations) and the danci

You're a numbskull and I am being condenscending to you right now. I will not respond to you. I would rather avoid it.

You have to stand up to see above the people in front of you. And you might want to lean over, into your neighbors lap, to get a "full" view...
re: Usual tony prices?  Mar 24 2009, 06:04:03 PM
Cooolkid - I pray there is a filter process for the seat fillers... if you make it past the interview to become eligible, the Broadway stars will fear for their lives.

Could you imagine Cooolkid filling a seat at the TONY AWARDS???

LOL
re: Chicago passes Rent in performances  Mar 24 2009, 01:59:48 PM
Blaxx is right... you're a COMPLETE fool.

This isn't really about "Rent", this is about "Chicago". Why did you have to compare the two?

They're opposites.

Just accept that your cute rock musical about drugs and sex has been dead for a few months now and it is time to move on.

re: SHREK Album now live on iTunes  Mar 24 2009, 01:56:24 PM
That's how it usually is on iTunes, I've found. So why is SHREK an exception?

It is the distributor (the label) that is responsible for the correct artist descriptions.

SHREK Album now live on iTunes  Mar 24 2009, 10:27:40 AM
For those who are out of the loop or haven't been following, SHREK'S cast album is now up on iTunes!

It sounds wonderful.

Just wondering who Chris Hoch is and why he's the only name on "Story of my Life" ? Seems odd. They could have just put Various Artists.

Regardless, it really is great!

We must not forget that Songanddanceman is a fan of LEGALLY BLONDE and FLASH DANCE.

Just kiss your little favorite rock musical "bye bye"... adios!

"How does one get to be a seat filler?"

Ask Constantine, Lea. Maybe he can help.

re: Official Tony Award 2009 Predictions Thread  Mar 23 2009, 10:23:12 PM
She sounds GREAT on the song and as someone who doubted her dancing, it became irrelevant when I finally saw it (her passion and presence in "America" was brilliant)

But yes... it is a little dissapointing that she's not an amazing dancer.

re: Split Parts- Who gets to do the cast recording?  Mar 23 2009, 06:25:57 PM
Winston.. of course the Producers (and creative team to some extent) choose.

If they didn't, WHO WOULD???

Sheesh.
