Into the Woods - The Bridge, London
 Sep 17 2025, 12:37:41 AM

On paper, these names are perfectly fine.  Many of whom I’ve seen recently.  But let’s be honest: this isn’t a Woods you’d make a special trip out to see based on casting.  Hopefully something special will come from it.

Jamie as The Baker made this my most anticipated show for the rest of the year.

Very curious as to why.  It’s saw him in History Boys and Potter but nothing else in his resume suggests a great Baker.

With all due respect, this cast was exciting. As was the Encores! original cast.  The Bridge cast is…fine. I’m hopeful all the same.

Interesting is not exciting, which is my point.

The casting is rather unexciting.

Kind of cheesy and derivative for my taste 😬, but I’m glad you like it!

Any word on the cast album? Sorry if I missed that announcement.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 8/24/25

BoringBoredBoard40: I didn't know about any of that, but I'm glad I know now.  Thank you.  And I appreciate the fact that you added the Trump information (which I confirmed independently ).  Like many, I support or protest with my wallet, and glad to be made aware of this monster...and the even worse demon he supports.

How funny!  Glyndebourne was exactly what I thought about when I added "unless there's a really meaningful reason to be there."  It really is a very special place, even if the productions can be very hit or miss.

I looked at a trip to London at that time but after reading different travel blogs & learning how trains and restaurants all shut completely down I decided to look at a different time of year, either Summer or Fall next year."

To me, there's nothing quite as special as Christmas in London: the city is decked out in lights, ornaments, and Christmas regalia.  If Chris

I like to use London Theater but I always double check the official ticket seller to see if i'm getting a good deal.  Other than that, Whatsonstage is also a good source now and again and of course TKTS.

I can’t wait for everything to come out of this guy’s closet.   I’m confident that the internet will do its thing.

While trying to avoid feeding the troll, I do want to point out how helpful these threads are, especially when it comes to performances outside of New York.  I'm pretty tapped into the NY theater scene, but a lot falls into my blindspot.  I would never have thought to see Paddington, but thanks to people here, I'm actually quite excited about it now!  I'm sure it'll be a nice balm to a matinee performance of an Ivo production  of All My Sons

Quiz: looking forward to your opinion after Saturday's performance.

What about Audra and Nicole in Follies?
 Aug 24 2025, 06:35:22 PM

This is all so comical...no one would pay top dollar to see Audra and Nicole (two expensive talents) in Follies (an already very expensive expenditure) for a sustained period to justify the overhead.  I'll go out on a limb here and say Follies ain't happening unless a not-for-profit picks it up...and I doubt Nicole would be interested in those rates.

Audra, maybe.

Adding to the December list, "End" at the National (also booked "Playboy" at the National, thanks Musigamist!) and "When we are Married" at the Donmar.  "Christmas Day" at the Almeida also looks promising.  Holding for a casting announcement.

Quick aside: there are lots of shows doing rare Sunday performances (Paddington, All My Sons) as well as various non-traditional matinees.  Not finding too much for

Peter Dinklage, Lupita Nypng'o, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Sandra Oh to star in Shakespeare in the Park's TWELFTH NIGHT

I wonder (and hope…) if the stars will align for a brief Broadway run.  Would add to an already stellar season of revivals.

‘Proof’ Revival to Open at A Shubert theatre but not THE Shubert Theatre

Either I am losing it or you are thinking of Jeffrey Wright and Octavia Spencer in Death of a Salesman. Unless I am remembering incorrectly, that is a movie, not a play revival.

They're likely talking about Carrie Coon in Bug

THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES with Kristin Chenowith & F. Murray Abraham to open at St. James in November
 Aug 21 2025, 11:30:45 AM

Like many who saw this in Boston, I was not a big fan and was planing on skipping its Broadway run...but there is no way I'm missing Sherie Rene Scott back on Broadway in a musical!

The theater gods have been quite generous this week!

...for FREE no less!

I might add that the line is so much a part of the experience!  For the past few years, I've been a donor with access to tickets in advance, but I remember waiting outside the park beginning around 1AM for the Hathaway Twelfth Night, the Streep Mother Courage, and the Pacino M
