VIP Lounge at Here Lies Love?

Aug 5, 2023 — 1:56:32 AM

One thing to note, because it’s an enclosed area, you can’t directly see anything going on above you in the mezzanine, including the DJ, or when the actors are on top of the steps that roll up in front of the mezzanine. You can see them on screens set up on the sides of the “lounge,” and this seems to work for the most part, but there were times I felt like I was missing something.

INTO THE WOODS Tour

I saw this in New York and there was no obstruction of the view to the stage. You’re right that it doesn’t ruin the show, but it is pretty annoying to pay for a prime orchestra seat for what could be considered a partial view. Having seen it in NY, I was able to fill in the details seeing it in SF. You don’t really miss much, but then again there are entire scenes devoted to Cinderella’s shoe.I still found the show to be terrific.

INTO THE WOODS Tour

I caught the first performance of Into The Woods in San Francisco tonight, and I'm happy to report that it arrived pretty gloriously intact from New York, with one glaring exception. I'll start with the problem. There was a foot-high board mounted to the front of the stage running the entire width of the stage. I'm guessing it was there to hide some lights? There were some wires you could see above the top of the board. I was in row G of the orchestra and I could not see below anyone's shins....

GREY HOUSE Previews

May 8, 2023 — 12:45:52 AM

Hey, folks. I am seeing this in a couple of weeks on a quick trip to New York. I am concerned by all the poor sight line reports. I am in row D center orchestra, which is the 5th row. I like being close, but not if it means I’m going to miss a lot. Will I be OK in row D, or should I try to change my seat for, say, row G, or front of the mezzanine?

Well, I am grateful bear88 started this thread. Without that post I would not have thought to check my spam folder for the pre-sale notice. I'm disappointed not to get my prime choice of seats, but I'm happy to have at least scored decent seats among the dwindling few remaining. I caught this in New York last summer and am so eager to see it again. It's a travesty that this is only running for one week in San Francisco. I continue to wonder what the story is behind that.

Question About The Inheritance

Nov 10, 2022 — 12:09:12 PM

I don’t know if you ever got your answer, but I just saw this in Los Angeles (fantastic, not to be missed!) and Click Here To Toggle Spoiler Contentthis is truly a remarkable scene. One actor indeed plays both roles when the characters intersect, simply by changing his facial expressions, body language, and voice. He shifts rapidly between the two, but it is always very clear who is talking at any one time, partly from the context of the text, but mostly from his portrayals. He doesn’t even n...

Great Comet - Shotgun Players (Berkeley)

Aug 18, 2022 — 6:09:11 PM

The seating chart calls the seats surrounding the circular platform with the donut hole "onstage" seating. Then there are another dozen or so onstage seats further back. It's not clear exactly where these are, but I'm going to guess they are on the small platforms you can see on either side of the steps going up the back of the stage – but that's just a guess.

Great Comet - Shotgun Players (Berkeley)

(I know there was a thread started a year ago, but I can't seem to access it through the Search function.) Natasha, Pierre, & The Great Comet of 1812 has its west coast premiere with the Shotgun Players in Berkeley in November and December. I know next-to-nothing about the Shotgun Players, but what an ambitious project! They released some images of the set design today, and wow -- this is impressive. (I hope the image attaches -- I'm still new at this.) From the seating chart it looks like the...

Mandates need to end

VintageSnarker said: Where do you get your 3M Auras, SFCowboy? Lowe’s, Home Depot, Amazon, maybe other hardware stores. For a nonvalved N95, they’re pretty breathable. The mask part is nice. If you have a big head, though, the elastic headband might be too tight.

Lehmann Bros - San Francisco run cast?

Feb 2, 2022 — 6:03:24 PM

This National Theatre webpage about the tour seems to indicate the cast is the same in LA and SF. https://www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/shows/the-lehman-trilogy-on-tour

If you have tickets, you may have gotten an email about it. I saw the last show at the Art House before this policy took effect. Hamilton to do 4 weeks in August in SF

Jun 1, 2021 — 2:39:12 PM

If you're a BroadwaySF subscriber, check your email. Tickets are on sale now. I just snagged 4 seats front row "loge" dead center, and "only" $185 on a Tuesday night.

MUSIC MAN Seems To Have Been Rescheduled For April 2021

Jun 24, 2020 — 1:40:36 PM

Ugh. I needed to exchange my ticket to a new date. I went through the online process as instructed, found a new ticket on a date I could attend, got through the payment page, and then then got held up on the processing payment screen followed by an error message. No confirmation from Telecharge or charge to my credit card. Now when I try to go back and exchange the ticket, I get a notice that my ticket has been canceled, with no option to exchange. Very upset. I now have no ticket on any date...

Falsettos National Tour

Mar 29, 2019 — 1:52:06 AM

I also saw the show (again) on Wednesday night, and in the front orchestra it seemed like 90% of the seats were filled. There is a huge difference depending on where you're sitting. Looking at tomorrow's availability, the front orchestra is pretty full, but the balcony is terrible, maybe only 40% full. Rear orchestra and mezzanine are somewhere in between. (I was going to post a seating map, but I don't know how to post an image.)Most of the folks around where I was sitting were completely ab...

RagtimeRay said: "I had the pleasure of seeing Betty Buckley and the national tour of Hello, Dolly! on Saturday afternoon at The Smith Center in Las Vegas. Kudos to all. However, I have a question: I've seen Dolly many times (during its first run, Channing's revival, tours, and the recent Broadway revival - Donna Murphy). At the end of the title number, Dolly and the waiter's start the "duck walk" on stage left of the passerale and move in the direction of stage right. The same is true when th...

Falsettos National Tour

Yes, I had the privilege of seeing this from orchestra row B, which was great. I also recommend seeing this from as close to the front as possible. The stage is not too high. My next visit will be from row H, and after Kitsune's observations I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile trying to move forward (or even if that would be possible).

Falsettos National Tour

Mar 20, 2019 — 1:45:27 PM

I caught this last night in San Francisco. This was my first exposure to Falsettos, and I went in knowing very little about it. I thought it was an excellent production of a good show. I didn't quite have the love for it that some on this board have, but I can understand how it would resonate for some. It's quite a contrast to Hello Dolly that just left San Francisco! The cast was very strong and did not disappoint. Thatcher Jacobs as Jason was a total delight. A minor quibble -- I thought the...

Falsettos National Tour

Mar 12, 2019 — 12:38:29 PM

Falsettos starts in San Francisco in a week, March 19. I received a promotional e-mail from the San Francisco Bay Times with a link to orchestra tickets for $60 ($49 plus $11 fees). It looks like this is good for the first ten or so performances. I snagged a pair, orchestra center row B. Not sure if this link will work:https://www.shnsf.com/online/default.asp?doWork::WScontent::loadArticle=Load&BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::article_id=006E3337-632D-4518-B4FA-121A8D6C12D3&BOparam::WScontent...
