Re: OTHER DESERT CITIES reviews (Hudson) - Louis-Dreyfus, Harris, Janney, Keery, and Rabe

Keery was my least favorite performance in the show, but different opinions make the world go round. It definitely seems to make a difference whether you saw the original production or went in fresh (I'm the latter)

I was at yesterday's matinee. I missed the original production, and while I'm sure Channing, Light, and Keach were brilliant I thought this cast was excellent as well.Janney had me hooked from her first line, she brings energy in spades and lands every zinger.JLD and Harris took a few minutes to get going, but they both fired on all cylinders by the midpoint of act one. The climactic scene of act two paid off very well. I also enjoyed Harris' mock death scene.Similarly, Rabe started off a lit...

Any stage door reports? I've only seen video of Janney and Harris coming out the front door of the Hudson after first preview. Maybe a moot point if it's as bad as quizking says, but just curious

While I loved this play, I'll caution the high-profile names don't have big parts. Delia Cunningham's character is the lead, with Kathleen Chalfant having the meatiest supporting role. I honestly don't remember any of the male performers from the NYTW run, though I'm sure Cerveris and Ricamora will do well with the material

If Full Monty is just changing venues that's not as bad (especially since a Roundabout show hasn't played the Sondheim since Anything Goes 15 years ago)Rhinoceros could also benefit from Giamatti and Turturro both getting Oscar buzz this year (for The Debut and Only Living Pickpocket in New York)
