Re: SIX will close on Broadway this winter

I obviously have no issue with people staying employed, but I do not understand this new business model of a show performing to half empty houses for months and then announcing a closing 3+ months away, which they likely keep losing money.

My guess is that nothing wants the house for the fall and it's slightly more profitable to keep this show limping along than to go fully dark until the spring.

It makes sense. They’ll see a bump thanks to the closing announcement and the holidays and the theater will be occupied in an otherwise undesirable time to open new shows.

It has a solid fan base, so the crazies will come back again and again.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I loved the cleverness, the original music, the fact it was short.

sad to see it go actually.

it felt like our best “post Hamilton inspired by Hamilton” musical

47 previews and 2,178 regular performances.

The 40th-longest running show in Broadway history.

Jeffrey Karasarides said: "They're also probably trying to see if they can get a publicity boost for the final months of the run."

Honestly, it made me less interested in seeing it live. I had been putting it off because the idea of a 70 minute long themed concert didn't really appeal to me. I saw the filmed version and thought it was fine, but it confirmed my reservations about spending live theatre prices on it. It definitely wasn't my cup of tea.

Played a great run. I can only assume that this will be at every regional theatre during the 2027-2028, 2028-2029 seasons

Re: SIX will close on Broadway this winter

Okay show, not great, I think it lost its luster pretty early in its Broadway life.

I’m not ashamed to admit I had more fun at DIANA, though SIX is far and away the better-written show.
