Stagedoor

I find it pathetic how many posters here can’t see, or pretend not to see, that they are just as vile as the people you revel in passing judgment on. Particularly in this thread, so many of you are using this message board as a way to make yourselves appear superior to others in a sad attempt to give your lives meaning. Perhaps you should not be going after “kids on social media” when you are just as much a part of the problem and just as in need of learning manners and boundaries. Take your ...

Barrett Doss, Oak Onaodowan cast in ShondaLand Drama

Oct 7, 2017 — 5:30:35 PM

Eric Millegan "aka Speed" I would advise you to take the advice you were given and step away. Telling tales out of school on a public message board is not a good idea. Especially considering the show you like to use as your claim to fame.

Betsy Wolfe departs CAROUSEL

The Distinctive Baritone said: "Ferguson's reading of post 100 is the funniest thing I have seen in weeks. That said, a Broadway actor turned television star making fun of Broadway fans is a little gross. It's like, they were once the hand that fed you, dude - enjoy your high tower in Los Angeles.Still hilarious though."Considering the vile way some people here talk about actors, they deserve to have it thrown back in their face on occasion.

Which closing show would you choose to attend - Groundhog Day or Bandstand?

Aug 31, 2017 — 4:17:13 PM

Can people please just support the show they love without tearing down others? Both shows are closing and it sucks, don't make it worse. Especially with comments about which cast is the "one giving it their all." All of the actors in both shows are doing that every night and will leave it all on the stage on 9/17. Personally, I think Groundhog Day is more powerful and emotional than Bandstand, with the more complex characters. John Sanders' final "Night Will Come" is going to kill me. As will...

GROUNDHOG DAY APPRECIATION THREAD

Thanks for the info Wayman! I hope it happens. Josh Lamon posted a sad, but beautiful, blog about how he found about GHD closing. When people say it's just show biz about a show closing, it isn't. It's personal too. At least in so far as the family that has been formed being torn apart, who may, or may not, see each other again.

Just block Jarethan, they add nothing of substance to the board. It's a wonderful feature.

RBJ to be out in early November

Might want to spell out her name in your thread title. This isn't a DEH only board where everyone will automatically know who RBJ is.

Because the initial exceptions of the show have kept a large number of people from seeing it at all, unfortunately, hence why it's closing. Despite the good word of mouth from those who see it anyway and walk out impressed. Exceeding expectations isn't bad, the low expectations are.

Hamilton dilemma - 1st trip to NYC

Regarding Hello Dolly, Donna Murphy plays Dolly on Tuesdays and will also play her on Sunday, Oct. 15th. However, if you end up seeing Donna, due to schedule or cost, as Mike Costa said, she's a Tony Award winner and has gotten raves here. Telecharge page for Hello Dolly. It lists the dates Bette will be out. So far, I believe Bette has only had 1 or 2 unscheduled absences so I would not let that prevent you from getting tickets. Have you t

Jessie Mueller in Spielberg's New Film?

Aug 30, 2017 — 2:19:06 PM

His tweets aren't funny. They read like those someone posts before they hurt themselves and/or someone else. I hope he finds support and help soon."All of you scared, small minded people should take stock of one truth as you shy away from me because I make you uncomfortable: #YourLoss"

Groundhog Day thoughts!

Thinking about the "spring in his step" line, there are more layers to it than just the "hint of sadness" tag.Yes, it's a common phrase, but given the show's "spring will come" recurring theme, the line also represents Phil beginning to let Rita in, find happiness, and view people differently. He's starting to thaw as it were, but not quite there yet, hence the sadness.springwillcome - I wish I knew more about music theory & composition so that I could appreciate all that Tim Minchin put into...

TKTS are booths run by TDF that sell discounted tickets to Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. (Musicals & Plays) Here's a link to their site. The main booth in Times Square sells tickets the day of the show, other locations sell the day before the show. They have a real time display to show you what's available or what was available when the booths are closed. For Waitress: Broadwaybox currently offers a discount code. Which yo

Very disappointing to hear that GHD isn't being officially archived, it deserves to be.marcor - So glad you enjoyed it and returned again. And again! It kills me though how many people also didn't expect much from the show and, unlike you, didn't even bother to go. I'm not sure if any marketing could have changed enough people's minds about it. Short of the Best Musical award, it's starting to feel like no awards would have gotten people in either.

I would say buy the Waitress tickets now. Actually, you could probably wait and get those tickets via TKTS to help offset the cost of the Hamilton tickets. For Hamilton do the cancellation line and lottery. Also, prices to start dropping on Stubhub before and especially the day of. You can either download or print the tickets, unless they're pick-up only, but only person would have to get the tickets from the Stubhub office and make the dash to the Richard Rodgers if you wait until just before...

Groundhog Day thoughts!

I love that portion of "One Day" with Phil's day going in reverse. It was a clever way to show the repetition, but in a different way and perfectly set up Phil's despair in Act 2.Also can't believe I didn't mention Larry asking Nancy to dance. Yes, that is a beautiful moment.I think one of the show's strengths was how it made you care about everyone in the town, not just Phil and Rita. It's a credit to the work Matthew Warchus, Danny Rubin, and the cast did to create deep backstories and rela...
