Posted: 8/6/14 at 1:45pmI saw on Ticketmaster that this show was cancelled (September 3)- would anyone know why? I am purchasing tickets for friends and they really want to see the show - but also with Idina. Just curious. Thanks!

I've seen the show 3 times so far and loved it.
How about Julia Murney as Elizabeth? (I still think Julia would've been an incredible Diana in next to normal...)

Posted: 8/6/14 at 3:41pmIdina must be out that night. I agree, it's unfortunate Jackie can't take on the role, but I'm sure all hell would break loose at the box office. I saw the show with Idina and liked it. I'm personally a huge Idina fan, so in a sense, hearing her live was the driving force behind my reason for attending the show. I feel that's the case with many audience members! The show itself is ok, the soundtrack does make great background music when I'm working. Something about Idina's voice gives the show some edge. Can't really describe it but, her presence plays a big part in the show.

Posted: 8/6/14 at 5:41pmI have seen the show twice and would love to see it again. I think the entire cast is awesome. I really loved the show and the music, but Idina brings the people in. I do feel bad for Jackie Burns, she is amazing. Does she just hang around hoping to go on? I hope the show makes it after Idina's contract is up, there is a lot of talent there and the music is great. I hope to go again with friends (why I was on ticket master) but the catalyst for them is to see Idina.

I think it'd be nice of them to try. I have seen a lot of people, here and elsewhere, want to see her in the role. I feel like that won't happen though, since it hasn't happened yet.

I get it that people would want refunds if Idina is out. She has become a true name above the title. I'm not an Idjna fan but thought she was outstanding in the role
I WISH Jackie Burns had the chance to play the role. I would fly to NY for the show (LOVE HER!) but can understand why the company wouldn't do jt.

Posted: 8/6/14 at 8:47pmIt seems to me that the producers' lack of faith in the show to sell itself is a sign that it'll likely be closing once Idina's contract is up, which is upsetting considering that I really loved it. I really don't see them being able to find a name to replace Menzel who could sing this score as written.

I think they are separate issues...
If you bought a ticket expecting to see Idina and she calls out, you have to deal with a lot of refunds. So, you are setting expectations when someone buys a ticket to see Idina in If/Then... which the billboard in Times Square promises, that you will see "Broadway Biggest Star Live."
That has nothing to do with their faith in the show. They are selling Idina as a huge draw to see the show, because she's in the show.
If the show extends beyond Idina's contract, then the situation will repeat with whomever takes over.

Posted: 8/6/14 at 9:27pmI love Idina and the show (have seen it 5 times) but I would also plan to see Jackie on Sept 3 if they announced it in advance. I would guess they could fill a theater with (a) Jackie fans, (b) If/Then fans, and (c) people who would see anyone sing the role. I think it would be worth a try.

Everyone signed on for 1 year - when does that year start?
She confirmed she's with it at least til January in an interview w/ Rudetsky last week.

I think they are making a bit of a mistake with all of these posters praising Menzel. She is wonderful in the show but I think they are setting themselves up to close when she leaves. But maybe they expect that to happen anyway.
I would see it without her as I really enjoyed the show itself. JMO
