I’ve heard this is happening from numerous reputable sources.
The current state of affairs on Bway is seriously horrific. What the hell will it take for the tides to turn? Sigh.

What's everyone's favorite flavor of hat? I need to make sure I have enough in stock just in case I need a hat to eat...
Another show that no one asked for that will immediately flop. Loving the state of Broadway right now, what smarties they are!
I’m sure the intimate, heart-rending tearjerker will play like gangbusters in a…1600+ seat theatre 🧐
For goodness sake. If you’re gonna burn money, the Jones will be free. You can easily do it in a small house.

Weren't you just bashing me for telling you Titanique and this were coming in? Didn't you suggest I needed therapy? But now you believe it...Waiting for that apology! lol

Ensemble1711444445, how's that "Shubert won't be booking any musicals for Spring 2026!" stance going?

Hopefully it’s just a “this season” thing. If we get less and less Bway musicals for years to come, I’d worry.
Or am I being too optimistic?

Probably a little optimistic. considering these were deliberate choices by the theater owners. The other favorites weren't creatively sound...Dolly Parton, Prince, Galileo, Wanted all had bad out of town runs. There are better shows with better budgets but the process is not about quality or feasibility any more. Need to go back to quality for a price!

You are not. It's one year of less new musicals for many reasons (COVID backlog thinning out, end of tax credit, not a lot of theaters available due to many hit show till running).
And things are still waaaay better than the early 90s. We've been spoiled the last couple years with the huge number of new musicals.
Can I get Mara Davi back in one of the leads?
They would need to rewrite the whole thing if so. Every iteration of Beaches is worse than the last one.

In that case, maybe you should get a different hobby and go torment a knitting board or something.

When I saw this show in Chicago it was truly one of the worst things I had ever seen. Nothing still has topped its terribleness except maybe Rob Lake Magic.

It got significantly worse after.
