Stephen Spinella in Angels in America Sep 18 2014, 04:20:13 PM
And I just bust a gut! Quoting Harold in this thread is genius. Right along with the balance of Angels in America, the Broadway and film casts AND Boys in the Band - I've played Emory twice and it's a beautifully written character that has so many levels. And Torch Song Trilogy is genius thanks to Mr. Fierstein. Why must we pit these things against once another? This IS this - how arrogant are you? There are 6 million stores in the Naked City . . .

Thrilling theatre moments/twists May 15 2014, 03:42:55 PM
The mirrors turning to reveal the deco starburst in the A Chorus Line finale. The change of scenery from Act 1 to Act 2 in Noises Off - also, the change of scenery in Another Time at Steppenwolf.

ASCAP offers a license covering blanket usages such as Ice Skating Competitions - this can, however, cause problems with later sales offerings of competition programs - I've purchased products with music substituted on Tapes/DVDs that was similar to, yet quite different from that originally used.

Ann Dowd performances ?? Jan 18 2013, 11:17:42 AM
I saw her many times in Chicago in the '80's - including memorable performances in Kennedy's Children and The Normal Heart. It's a shame that the acting nominations are limited to 5 - and in my opinion it was a leading performance, not supporting in any way.

Carol Channing: Larger Than Life (Showtime) Jul 25 2012, 01:34:01 PM
RE: 'crazy hair' Channing has been wearing her hair with the Pebbles ponytail for decades. As I understand it, a bleaching malfunction caused an irreparable bald spot and this has been her solution, basically, since time began. Loved this film and wanted much, much more.

Anyone see the original May 24 2012, 09:17:35 AM
It was Ellen Greene at the Schubert Theatre in Chicago - it wasn't a sit down and they were only likely playing 3-4 weeks max. If I'd have seen Liza Minnelli's SISTER I'd remember - and that didn't happen until a Rainbow in the Stars engagement in the very early 90's. THAT I remember very well.

National Tour in Chicago - Victor Garber & Ellen Greene - very enjoyable. I wore out my vinyl back in the day.

Roles That Actors Own? May 7 2012, 11:17:13 AM
Season of 79-80 Pat Carroll was performing a one-woman play called Gertrude Stein, Gertrude Stein, Gertrude Stein. I tried for years to get rights to it for an actress friend, but she had it tied up and we ended up doing Gertrude Stein and a Companion instead. I never liked it as much. So, indeed, Pat Carroll, at least for a period, owned Gertrude Stein.
