It was a MY FAIR LADY medley that combined instrumentals with a vocalist singing "I Could Have Danced All Night" - wondering if anyone here can identify the singer.
(The link is them performing the routine last month, I don't know if video from today is up yet.)

That sounds like Martine McCutcheon

It was the Martine/London recording (notably placed higher than the original.)
I adored their dance, but I wish they'd done it to the Julie Andrews recording. I like that one so much better.
^^^ That brings up something I was thinking about. Surely someone pays for rights to broadcast the music the the skater use. Who pays? The Olympics Committee? NBC? Also, wouldn't some rights be more expensive than others (Julie Andrews recording vs. Martine McCutcheon) or do rights not work like that? Surely the skaters choose the music months if not years in advance?
I was wondering the same thing, morosco.
Speaking of covers of Julie Andrews songs, there was one IIRC German pair who skated to Chris Colfer's cover of "Le Jazz Hot."

I liked the Julie Andrews better too..but sometimes you pick a version based on the tempo/style of the arrangement which might work better with your dance.
I LOVE that most of them skate to Broadway music.
France skated to a medley of Anything goes the other day (It's De-Lovely, Anything Goes) and I was playing the cast recording for the rest of the day.
ASCAP offers a license covering blanket usages such as Ice Skating Competitions - this can, however, cause problems with later sales offerings of competition programs - I've purchased products with music substituted on Tapes/DVDs that was similar to, yet quite different from that originally used.
