Encores 2027: You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown; Hallelujah, Baby!; Kiss of the Spider Woman

YES to Spiderwoman, but the other two, I'll pass. Not a great season; it could be much better.

2026-27 Paper Mill Playhouse

Not one show from the Golden Age? This is why I haven't been there in years. Miss shows like The King and I & Funny Girl.

Songs about men sung by women? Rop

Two from PAL JOEY,  What is. Man? & Take Him

HIGH SPIRITS at Encores!

An excellent performance tonight. They do hold scripts and an actor serves as the narrator playing Noel Coward. Elvira even rises a little bit to fly. The full orchestra and vocals were gorgeous.

New Merrily Pro-Shot reviews

Just saw it in Times Square at the AMC. I loved it.

Ariana DeBose to lead THE BAKER'S WIFE at Classic Stage Company

I saw the matinee today and I loved it. The cast is terrific.

CHESS Previews

Just saw the matinee and I thought the cast was superb. I still think they could cut some material. It let out at 4:45.

Chances of a Strike?

Just was going to share the great news; I can see CHESS this weekend!

CHESS Previews

Tried for rush today, but those were all gone. Only tix left were $300. I ended up buying an obstructed view for the first matinee this Saturday in the orchestra, $149. Only have seen one professional and one community theater production,  both using the Broadway version.

CSC 2025-2026 Season

Always thought CSC or the Roundabout would be perfect to produce The Baker's Wife. I liked it a lot when the Papermill did it years ago. However,  I am disappointed that Endless Delights has been excised from the licensed show.

Encores! 2026 Update?

Excited for HIGH SPIRITS, which was supposed to be featured in the 2018 revue HEY, LOOK ME OVER, but later excised. The rest of the season I'll probably skip.

Encores! 2026 Update?

Someone had mentioned on another website rumors OF THEE I SING,  which they did 20 years ago, and Master Voices did before the pandemic. Whether that's true or not, I don't know.

City Centers 24-25: Ragtime, Urinetown, LaChiusa's Wild Party, Love Life

I'm here too. What a great score!

Try DMLOVE (save up to $35 on select Orch & Mezz seats)
"

Thanks, I miss the $38 obstructed view seats that are no longer offered at that price.

Upcoming UK Opera North LOVE LIFE radio broadcast

It's an excellent broadcast. Posted on the BBC Radio website shortly after the Saturday airing and available only for a month for listening.

City Centers 24-25: Ragtime, Urinetown, LaChiusa's Wild Party, Love Life

Curious to know if the cast album is from a live performance or are they going into the studio to record the score? Looking forward to its release as it's an excellent score.

Modern musical choices for Encores!

ASPECTS OF LOVE.

From what I've heard it sounded like Jack Viertel had a personal vendetta against Me and Juliet?
"

When I asked him, he didn't seem that enthusiastic. Ted Chapin from R&H would just say "We'll see."
"

I was at a Zoom discussion with Chapin where he full out said that it was because Viertel was against doing Me and Juliet (he did point out that the original reviews felt the star of the show was Jo Mielziner's complex, mechanized scenery--groundbreaking in many ways--which of course couldn't be replicated for Encores. But that score needs a better recording.)

So considering the director do we imagine this Wonderful Town will be... not traditional? I mean we already have the crazy Toulon opera version on DVD. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VU7dOTbi5aU&t=1s

And yet didn't the Mufti just use a ladder and very little else? I didn't get to see it.
