I'm sad to report I thought this was actually worse than everyone has reported so far. I will be far pickier about what Tommy Kail shows I go to in the future, because this was terrible. My thoughts are a little all over the place because I was so, so disappointed by this.

I can't believe I have to explain this... It can be true that child labor is bad, and that many of us work in professions that require the use of a smartphone. What ethically produced smartphone options are out there that are supported by major carriers in the US? By your logic, I guess we should just get a different job that does not require the use of a phone, laptop, etc.

There is a big difference between headlining Scott Rudin's Broadway return production and being in a show of his that's been running for however many years.

You cannot possibly believe Laurie Metcalf has the same number of career opportunities/options that people currently in/auditioning for Book of Mormon have. If anything, Laurie could probably be getting paid more to do TV/film work right now, but instead, she chooses this.

I, for one, do not care that Laurie Metcalf is "out of work." Frankly, I lost a lot of respect for her when she decided to continue working with Rudin. I think the extended preview period/the uneven shape it was in early hurt their word of mouth, but they made all the necessary changes and were in incredible shape by opening. I can only imagine what a few more workshops would do to help tighten this up a bit more. The biggest issue that remains in my eyes is Act 3, which probably needs a few cuts.

Seconding this. The show now runs 2 hours 35 minutes, while in early previews it was at least 3 hours. They did a fantastic job tightening it.
