OH, MARY! Reviews

Sorry, everyone, for the false alarm. I heard it was Aidy Bryant, obviously, that didn't go through. Jane will be stellar

Michelle Williams navigates a problematic classic in ‘Anna Christie’ at St.

What the hell happened to Laura Collins-Hughes? She used to be such a great critic. I don't need a critic to always share the same opinion as me, but I would at least like to understand where they are coming from or what they appreciated about the show. That review was so vague I can't even tell you what in particular she liked about it. At least with Greene, I could understand why he came to the conclusions he came to. I'm looking forward to Shaw.

Thomas Kail to direct Michelle Williams and Mike Faist in ANNA CHRISTIE for St. Ann's Warehouse

Dec 13, 2025 — 11:52:11 PM

I'm sad to report I thought this was actually worse than everyone has reported so far. I will be far pickier about what Tommy Kail shows I go to in the future, because this was terrible. My thoughts are a little all over the place because I was so, so disappointed by this. I'll start with the positive. I want to praise Brian D'Arcy James and Tom Sturridge, who give really great performances despite being in a very bad production. I actually enjoyed the moving of the platforms, but only to hav...

TotallyEffed said: "And I do hope he has changed, and I believe there will be lasting consequences if he has not."He has not changed (personal opinion that I'm not allowed to elaborate on), and the extent of the consequence was having to leave his ongoing projects. I mean, now his net worth is only $250M instead of $300M! He really got what he deserved! Lmfao. Some of the offenses detailed in the Hollywood Reporter article were to the level of second-degree assault, which is a felony. He got ...

Do you think he isn’t still involved with it?"I addressed this in my previous comment. "You cannot possibly believe Laurie Metcalf has the same number of career opportunities/options that people currently in/auditioning for Book of Mormon have.""Your comments about actors suggest to me you know lit...

LITTLE BEAR RIDGE ROAD Previews

Dec 13, 2025 — 3:20:01 PM

I can't believe I have to explain this... It can be true that child labor is bad, and that many of us work in professions that require the use of a smartphone. What ethically produced smartphone options are out there that are supported by major carriers in the US? By your logic, I guess we should just get a different job that does not require the use of a phone, laptop, etc. Your comment is so obviously disingenuous because it is not true that Laurie Metcalf is required to be in Scott Rudin-p...

LITTLE BEAR RIDGE ROAD Previews

Dec 13, 2025 — 2:49:54 PM

There is a big difference between headlining Scott Rudin's Broadway return production and being in a show of his that's been running for however many years. You cannot possibly believe Laurie Metcalf has the same number of career opportunities/options that people currently in/auditioning for Book of Mormon have. If anything, Laurie could probably be getting paid more to do TV/film work right now, but instead, she chooses this. TotallyEffed, this has nothing to do with "ethical consumption," an...

MysteriousLady said: "And f*CK you for being happy that people who did nothing wrong are out of work."I, for one, do not care that Laurie Metcalf is "out of work." Frankly, I lost a lot of respect for her when she decided to continue working with Rudin. She's fortunate enough to be able to choose her projects, and she decided to work with someone who verbally abuses his staff and consistently creates toxic working environments. It's an obvious choice to prioritize her career or "art" over her...

The Public Theater - Ethan Lipton’s “The Seat of Our Pants”

Dec 8, 2025 — 12:07:29 PM

There's absolutely an audience for this. I think the extended preview period/the uneven shape it was in early hurt their word of mouth, but they made all the necessary changes and were in incredible shape by opening. I can only imagine what a few more workshops would do to help tighten this up a bit more. The biggest issue that remains in my eyes is Act 3, which probably needs a few cuts. Maybe I'm naïve, maybe I really like this show, but I don't see this ending here. The Public has spent 10...

It's being recorded this week.

The pace has tightened substantially, though it still slows down late into act 3, before waking up again for that banger finale."Seconding this. The show now runs 2 hours 35 minutes, while in early previews it was at least 3 hours. They did a fantastic job tightening it.I don't know what the plans are for this show beyond the cast recording they are going to release, but I hope it does have a lif...
