I agree with the questions about "why is Sonny a dreamer but Usnavi is not"...and similarly wondered about Usnavi's plans for the bodega upon his departure. He seems to close up shop but...if he needs the money, obviously...why wouldn't there be any reference to him selling it to a neighboring business or something? That way, when he reverses his decision at the end, it would be an easy thing for him to get backAnd yes...why couldn't Nina just go to a state school or at least closer to home? ...

It's been a long time since I saw ITH on stage, of course (touring production in 2009 in Chicago, maybe?), but since seeing (and re-watching) the film this week, I have had trouble wrapping my head around the ages of the main characters. There were changes from the musical to the film, out of necessity and some out of license to update (i.e. DACA storyline), but I don't think the ages of the characters changed, as they directly have to do with the inter-connected storylines.Usnavi says he's n...

This sounds wonderful. Will they be touring? I don't live in NY but grew up watching it, just saw the most recent (English version) tour when it came to Chicago about a month ago (with that wonderful Israeli actor whose name at the moment escapes me) and I was in a fab community theatre production of it, once. But would love to see this Yiddish version if it's going to tour a bit.

Agree, RevolutionaryCostume. "If I Could Turn Back Time" showed up in the first 15 mins of the show! It was disappointing that it was used as more of a throwaway, though, and should be more featured since it's one of her biggest hits.

Saw it tonight (Thurs 6/28, Press night) . Though the show is super FUN by virtue of the music alone, and is on its way to being freaking fantastic, I agree with many of the comments on what needs fixing. Some of the storyline gets muddled with the "show within a show" breaking off into songs/dramatizations of memories, and back to the "show" again. The part with Gregg Allman is over in mere minutes, and there is either a problem with the sound...or the actor...as a lot of his dialogue meant ...

There are other characters who definitely do not, and the piano back is facing the audience so you can't see that those supporting actors are actually not playing. Madela--most of his interaction out in the house in Chicago with the glasses, script and "shroud" were at audience left orchestra within the first 4- rows or so. Not my first choice or even first consideration for the role, but actually, it could work out better for her, and for NBC. NBC took a lot of flack for the fact that Underwood could certainly sing, but wasn't directed well to act. Peeps, relax. These shots are not about "production values," they are real-life candids. They need a model of the wardrobe so they can dress it up ("CGI the frick out of it") as necessary to make it look all shiny and cool, just like they do with most other stuff on that show. I'm sure it will look dazzling in post.
