Les Miserables soundtrack preview clips!
 Dec 20 2012, 07:08:04 PM
I'm surprised that Do You Hear the People Sing? isn't on the highlights soundtrack. You would think ti was one of the more recognizable songs from the show.
'Angry Broadway Music' Playlist

I may have missed it on here, but Nobody's Side is my go to angry song.
Ramona Mallory in A Little Night Music

What role was she offered in Ragtime? She seems awful young for Mother, and Evelyn Nesbit seems such a small role for someone who had just been getting such good work.

Thanks AC, I've always wondered about that!

I had no idea that Judy Kuhn wasn't on the She Loves Me recording. I always thought she sounded different on that recording, but I just assumed that it was me. Does anyone know why she didn't do the recording? I would love to hear her sing that score

Amy Adams to play the Baker's Wife

Neither was Liza's Sally Bowles, and that was brilliant. I think it could work very well. Her inherent naivety paired with material like Moments in the Woods could be really powerful.

I know Lillias doesn't have that allure and beauty, and wouldn't work in a full production, but but I think she would sing the hell out of the score. Can you imagine her Last Midnight?

Does anyone else think that Audra could be an interesting choice? Or even Lillias White.

A middle aged streetcar

The audience, at least around me, was pretty atrocious. Texting, unwrapping candy, phones going off, full conversations carried out, the man in the couple sitting next to me even started snoring at one point.

I don't think it was. The actor's didn't seem to be playing it for laughs, and I didn't see it in the direction either.

I was uncomfortable with the laughter as well. People lost it over "I've always depended on the kindness of strangers." Did they not understand that it wasn't supposed to be funny?

Did anyone else see the first preview? I just got back, and race does indeed play much smaller a role in this production than I anticipated. It isn't even directly referenced, just alluded to.
PIPE DREAM!!!!!!!
 Apr 1 2012, 02:04:45 PM
I guess I'm one of the few who didn't enjoy Uggams. I've always been a fan of hers, and I was so excited to see her, but I was disappointed. I though she seemed lost during the book scenes, although she was in great voice.
I felt the same way about the show itself. Half the score was classic, beautiful Rogers and Hammerstine, particularly the solo numbers and duets. There were some really beautiful songs, but I felt that the other half of the score, mostly ensemble numbers, were repet

Pipe Dream Student Rush
 Mar 26 2012, 01:39:32 PM
Does anyone know if Encores has a student rush policy for Pipe Dream? I'd really like to see the show, but I'm not sure if I should buy my tickets now or if I should wait to see what they have this weekend. Thanks!
just back from LOVE NEVER DIES - Loved it

I just got back from the show. Other than some moments that left me shaking my head, I liked it more than I thought I would. The plot was a bit ridiculous, but I was expecting as much. The score was pretty, but only Til I Hear You Sing really stood out to me.
I thought the production itself was gorgeous. Loved the use of space, and though the staging was lovely.
I thought the Phantom was terrible. Gorgeous voice, but I'm sorry, his acting was laughable. I felt that there was no
