The economics of the theatre are sometimes as fascinating as the productions that transpire on stage. Numerous musicals shuttered earlier than expected, packing their bags due to poor ticket sales and reviews, while others eclipsed even their most confident producers' dreams and desires. As part of a forthcoming investigation, I wish to pinpoint the specific, objective factors that are correlated with the lifetime (number of performances) of a show on "The Great White Way."

No. "Op-Eds," in their traditional function, express the perspectives of individuals unaffiliated with the conventional editorial divisions of the pertinent publications. Mr. Riedel, as a hired journalist and critic, would not be classified as an "Op-Ed columinist."

As several other individuals mentioned, Mr. Sprecher must either move forward with the scheduled theatrical production or return the retrieved capital to the original investors. But, since at least $800,000 of the capitalization has been utilized, the latter option is not quite available. The show must thus go on, despite its debated prospect of commercial success.
