Look how long it took Dance of the Vampires to get to Broadway, and when it did... Well we all know how that ended. If the universe is working against a show this strongly, maybe it's just not meant to be.
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
I have been dying to see this show and really hope it does make it to Broadway. Hey, the universe was working against Spiderman and it is still running.
Someone really believes in this show. I must commend the fight.
I must say that I'd love to see it because I'm a huge fan of the movie. The extra time may give them the opportunity to get Boggess back along with someone inspired as Danvers like Carolee.
Any investor stupid enough to put money into another potential production (and, likewise, any performer stupid enough to take this job) deserves what they get.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body

In the case of Vampires, it was the material that was handled badly. In this case, it's the finances. I would love to see Rebecca, but given all the crazy bad press up to this point, I don't see how it could possibly survive a week past opening no matter how good it is. Too bad it isn't based on a super hero with a score by an internationally beloved rock star.
"What can you expect from a bunch of seitan worshippers?" - Reginald Tresilian
I actually heard Karen Mason sing the title song, and I have to say it's pretty darn good. we haven't heard such a beautiful melody in so long on Broadway.
I just can't believe they're still trying. I'm just afraid it'll open, and it'll be met with "All this? For that?" This ain't Spider-Man, with a built-in audience, so it has to be the absolute best musical of all time to be worth it, to thrive under the weight of the scandals. And we all know that it ain't nowhere close...
