re: Listen to the CD or See the Show First?

Jul 26, 2007 — 6:59:07 PM

Considering I live in Illinois and have never gotten the chance to go to New York to see a Broadway show, I have to get the cast recordings first.

Grey Gardens Original Cast (Off-Broadway). I know this musical is supposed to be one of the best this season but I found the cast recording very uneventful and boring. Only like two catchy tunes.

"And if you can tell me ot see it why the hell can;t I tell people not to?" I NEVER told people to see the show. I said, let people judge the show for themselves without you throwing your opinions at them telling them NOT to see it. They could have much different views than you. And for you to call the show "half-done" is disrespectful to everyone involved within the show. You do NOT know how much work, dedication, and time has been put into this show. You don't have the right to call it "hal...

"He and I both say this stuff. Why? Because it was a piece of **** and we don't want people to waste their time and money with such a crappy show." Last time I checked, nobody needed you (or your boyfriend) to tell them NOT to see a show. Let them judge the show for their damn selves. "A piece of ****??" You've got to be kidding me.. logcabin--thank you for your post. I whole-heartedly agree. The responses to this topic proves your point exactly.

LizzieCurry- Why do your responses have to be sarcastic and rude the majority of the time?

I hope she doesn't scream throughout the whole show, like she does in every other live performance I've watched. Oh, and let's pray to god she doesn't add a "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" at the end of every freaking lyric. Does she even have a good enough range for this part? Interesting..to say the least.

I was lucky enough to see the show in Chicago about the middle of previews. Obviously, some things could be changed, but overall I thought the show had (and still has) A LOT of potential. The performances (singing and acting wise) were VERY strong. Stephanie J. Block and Hadley Fraser have such amazing voices! Costumes and set pieces were very strong as well. Not to mention the beautiful Irish-themed music. One thing that kind of bugged me about the show was the sword fighting. It seemed to b...

I wish they would stop recyling. Wicked needs someone fresh and new! Although, I wouldn't mind if Kristy Cates came back to Bway. =]

re: Grey Gardens cd - take 2?

Hopefully the new songs will be better. I just recently (last weekend) bought the off-broadway cast recording, knowing NOTHING of the show, and needless to say..I'm pretty dissapointed. The songs seem boring to me. Although, I do like "Will You" and "Five Fifteen" among a few others. Anyone else feel that the show fails to deliever strong songs?
