Amazon gives it an April release.
April????? It should be out now while the run is still with a few months to go. Once CZJ and AL leave this summer the show will close.
The cover art is so cheesy to look at. . . .
Where are you seeing this on Amazon? Links are helpful.
And replacements are joining the cast on June 22nd.
1. Did this need another thread? There are already 2 that deal with the recording
2. The show is not closing in CZJ and Angela Lansbury leave, right now tickets are being sold until August 30th and will most likely go past that.
Ljay- you beat me to it

Yikes. I hope they alter the cover art a bit.
I think the artwork would be better if the decrease the size of the font for Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler. Their name's are too big.
I don't think it needs any of their names. Not even the stars. It would look better just the logo. Like the Playbill.
I think the artwork would be better if they redid the entire thing.
Btw, the PS Classics website is saying March so I guess they'll ship earlier than amazon.
The best recording to date of this show is the Roayal National Theatre production starring Judi Dench. They have put the film version and the stage version into one song and there are also other small changes like the inclusion of My husband the pig and In praise of women are combined. Some of the actors dont sing well but thats always the case... Sadly its no longer in production
^ And they made those changes without Sondheim's permission. Therefore he banned the production from transferring to Broadway.
It is a good recording. Though it's hard to beat the OBCR.

They did it without Sondheim's permission? Wow. I didn't know that..
I attained all of that information from ATC. Multiple members stated it. So I assume it is true.
I made this one. If the official one looks like it does on Amazon, I will use this for my iTunes cover art. They probably DO need to be Sondheim on it somewhere. lol. I thought the small one we've seen would be it, but I guess not.

I am saving that, and will also use it if the official cover art doesn't change.

April 6. 2 discs.
Wow!! Look at that tracklisting.
And they added 4 more instruments for the recording. Fantastic.
I can't wait.
OMG!! i LOVE LOVE LOVE the wooden ring speech. Will DIE to have this as a legit recording!
I'm seeing the show on April 7th!!
Question: how much are CDs in the theatre usually?
...do PSClassics releases reach 'normal' physical stores in the US on release date? (Which ones?)
A Barnes and Noble in Manhattan should have a PS Classics release on its actual release date.
I assume the CD will between $25-$30 at the theater. If they get it before the release date, I wouldn't mind spending that much.
Oh God, I had forgotten how heinous the artwork was until I clicked on the Amazon link.
this is was initially posted on bww, it's small but looks a little better

I, too, am excited about "A wooden ring" as it was one of the high points for me.
"...do PSClassics releases reach 'normal' physical stores in the US on release date? (Which ones?)"
In Manhattan, definitely. Rest of the country, hit or miss.
But as ljay said, Barnes and Noble is the most reliable. Especially the one across from Lincoln Center.
I wonder if the theater will have them a couple of weeks early, as they tend to. I'd be willing to pay a little more if it were available earlier.
I don't own the cast album (yet). I've looked at the pic of the cover from broadwaynewyork.com. Anyone know what the red stick on the front says? I hope it says something like THE 2009 BROADWAY PRODUCTION like the 05 revival cast album for Sweeney Todd.
