I'm happy about the Ragtime love, BUT...
Why was Santo Loquasto nominated for costumes? These were the exact same costumes he designed for the original production in 1998.
I'm a little disturbed The Addams Family got 8 nominations and Memphis got 7, while Sondheim on Sondheim got none.

I'm really surprised by the LEND ME A TENOR snub. Critical hit, it was. ADDAMS FAMILY, it wasn't.
And I don't get the division of sound design, but a hodgepodge for set, costume and lighting.
Hmmm...

Nice to see "The Boys in the Band" get nods. I was supposed to be in town this spring and it was one of the top plays I wanted to see. The "staging" looked quite interesting.

Adamgreer, I was thinking the EXACT same thing. Also, I was under the impression that Ragtime used the original orchestrations. Whatever.
I am thrilled for all of the Finian's love. Yay for Circle Mirror and My Wonderful Day. Shocked that Barbara Cook and Denzel weren't nominated. I'm rooting for Bill Heck.

Terri White has now been nominated at both the OCC Awards and the Drama Desk Awards.
Here's hoping she's able to sneak in with a well-deserved Tony nomination tomorrow as well.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

I'd be shocked if she didn't get a Tony nomination. Also, yay for Anne Hathaway. Much deserved!

Because sometimes, less is more. The lighting in that show is going to give somebody a seizure.
Very happy about some of these, bummed about others. But what else is new? Awards are silly.

I liked the Ragtime revival, but why is it nominated for Costumes and Orchestrations? That just doesn't seem fair to me.
We will be seeing a pretty different list of nominations tomorrow.

Orchestrations, yes, costumes, eh. Though I count that production in my top ten, ever.

Neither the costumes nor the orchestrations should have been eligible- both were the originals.
Those were the only two nominations the Ragtime revival got that I feel were undeserved.

Yeah, the costumes and orchestrations for the Ragtime revival are practically the same as the originals, with some very minor alterations. I just don't see how Brohn and Loquasto qualified for nominations this time around, especially considering the fact they were nominated for the original in 1998 (and Brohn actually won!) but I love their work so it doesn't really bother me that they're work is being recognised once more:)

Yeah, those are two very undeserved nominations from a very deserving show. I'm happy to see it wasn't forgotten! And neither was Finian's Rainbow, which is tied with... Addams Family?!
I'm sad about the Tenor snubs, especially Jan Maxwell, future Tony winner. Huh?
Also, very surprised Denzel Washington is not on this list. I guess they didn't like him as much as everyone else did. Then again, neither did I.

Once again I'm surprised by Brian d'Arcy James being snubbed. Carolee Carmello was obviously samt for choosing "The Addams Family" over that mess of a musical, "The First Wives Club."

YEAH for Ragtime & La Cage!!

The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

So thrilled to see Bobby Steggert with two nominations, and so much love for Ragtime and Yank.
