Encanto on Broadway?

Feb 14, 2022 — 2:02:53 PM

Please no...I truly don't get this hype. It's a wonkily put together story that I could barely follow, with what is the most subpar music Lin has ever penned. I love him as much as the next person, but I really wanted a more cohesive music palette. It's one of my biggest pet peeves about musical theatre type writing these days.

Something like "When You Believe" is so much bigger and more beautiful drawn with thousands of people caravaning across a literal desert. You put that on a broadway stage- it feels a little cheesier. Like another user said recently...."this thread is my time to shine". This show is ATROCIOUS. I've commented on just about every thread about this and I adore this movie beyond words. It's pitch perfect, I literally cannot see anything wrong with it, the story is well paced, tight in terms of coherent narrative, screenplay isn't cliche or uses language that doesn't seem to fit...and I don't need to say much about the music. It's glorious and I've said for year that it's Schwartz's magnum opus...

Much more faithful to the book than the Disney film (though I love the film for what is DOES do ...

Not sure how you missed the memo as it was a huge deal at the time (not trying to be snarky, I"m genuinely confused), but basically the below points from Scarywarhol...I didn't go to see it at Papermill wanting to hate it. I never go to see something wanting to hate it, but I was so thrown at how misguided it was, that I couldn't comprehend how it had such an identity crisis and missed the mark. The movie isn't perfect tone wise thanks to the 3 gargoyles, but other than that, it's pretty even...

DOUBTFIRE to take nine week hiatus

^^HA, yeah some 'high speed' service...the only Aceala route that I can think of that's in any way significantly faster is Penn Station to DC, because I also noticed that Penn to Philly isn't near significant enough to call it 'high speed'quizking101 said: "JennH said: "RippedMan said: "I remember reading something that Elphaba's make $10,000 a week and none of them are "names.' Wicked has never needed a name, even Idina wasn't "Idina" quite yet when she was in it. She was known, but not "A leve...

Jenna, pack up your dressing room and get on the 1st flight back to England and deny u were ever involved in the show. Everyone else, run for the hills."Jeanna, I'm sure, is what you meant. I'm not saying this show isn't a heinous mess, but if there's anything I've learned about terrible shows, look at the material itself...not the actors. This poor cast is working with some of the most god awful material in ...

While I believe Ari would give her all to respect the musical art form as those are her roots, I still don't think it'll go well...Similar to Carrie i...

Oh man, all I could say to this was "OH DEAR GOD"....not that I have any idea who could currently pull this off at this level, but Gaga isn't funny and Idina, while Jewish, also isn't funny...like, at all. Apart from just being iconic, this role needs a true comedienne, PERIOD. I don't need to say anything about Lea...let the jokes begin. I know Sho did it recently but I'm sure the powers that be are looking for who will make money...which Gaga certainly is, but casting would literally push a...

The Crown. Another season after Imelda?

Aug 4, 2021 — 11:53:25 AM

As massive die-hard fan, I can say at the moment, season 6 is the end. But...as Tag said anything is possible considering the amount of drama surrounding the family just in the last 3-4 years. Would I be surprised if it were extended or even mad at the idea? Not at all. But I think doing such current events on camera might be a little too 'Uncanny Valley' for the world at the moment. But believe me, if it's extended I'll come right back here to say so ;P

Actors' Equity To Expand Membership

So now, instead of having a union of 51,000+ members for around 19,000 union jobs throughout a fiscal year, keeping 60% of their members unemployed each year,...
