I am oddly fascinated to discover exactly what kind of show would please the unpleasables here on BwayWld. It really seems like everything in the vast vast world of musical theatre has SOMEone who hates it venomously. A brilliant move to close now, before the transfer. Why suffer through the dead winter months when you can just keep the demand high and come back strong in the spring? Ingenious. Like it or not, this show is stupid fun. Revolutionary theatre? No. But fun, you bet your ass.

You need to compare this to pirated DVDs for sale on he subway, or street corner, or in Asia, or even online movie downloads. Or even the RIAA hunting down college kids for illegally downloading music. Yes, we writers WANT our work to be seen, appreciated, LOVED, even. But an entire musical is a different story. This depends... Beauty and the Beast is a great musical. The show at the Lunt-Fontanne, however, is a cheap cartoon.
