Their contract with CBS ran out this past award show, so what will they do next? Renew? Move to ABC or YouTube?
Where will the 2027 Tony awards be broadcast?

Just as the Oscars will be moving to YouTube in a couple years, the Emmys are currently in talks to move to Amazon Prime Video next year.

It's kind of impressive that last night's Emmys only had 1.7 million more viewers than the Tonys (6.7 mil vs 5 mil), considering the number of viewers who saw a NEW Broadway show is probably only in the hundreds of thousands.
ABC/Hulu might be the most hospitable home for it especially now that they've lost the Oscars (and they'll no longer get the Emmys every 4 years), but I really don't know what'll happen to the Tonys. There's not the built-in "self promotion" factor of Amazon getting the Emmys or Netflix picking up the SAGs.
Hopefully there's money in the bank at the Wing and the League, since the new deal is probably not going to be nearly as lucrative as the CBS one.

Does it matter anymore?
Like the Oscars and the Emmys (Grammys, CMAs, People's Choice, etc. really haven't mattered for quite a few years...), I'm content to read the list of winners online, the following day. I know that if the Tonys move to a paid streamer (like YouTube), I definitely won't even consider watching.
There are multiple options for "in the moment" updates if that appeals, but the Tonys have deleted the only reasons I used to have for watching: excerpts from both plays and musicals.
...and the musicals excerpts are SO overexposed from their daytime TV promotions that by the time the Tonys roll around, their appearance on the Tonys is pretty much a "been there, done that" moment for most viewers (IMO).
Awards show ceremonies (in general) have long outgrown any need, or benefit from being televised (again, IMO). Their content is most often available online within moments of broadcast, anyway.
Unfortunately, the only benefit I can (currently) see to live broadcasting is for moments like the Will Smith "Keep... my wife's... name... out 'tchyo mouth" slap.

ABC will start airing the Grammys next year, maybe the Tony’s are waiting to see how that works out before signing the papers. I do think it’s important for the Tony’s to still have a presence on cable as well as streaming, my only issue with ABC is I dont want Disney pushing their shows on the telecast.

If CBS doesn't renew, I think YouTube would be the most ideal option. It is more widely used and watched than any of the streamers. Since the Tonys are a vital advertising tool for Broadway, they need the widest exposure possible. YouTube's plan for the Oscars is to offer the show for free to all users and include ads (as opposed to locking it behind their paid Premium subscription). If the Tonys can get the same deal, I don't see a better option. But who knows if YouTube is even interested.

Not surprised at the Emmy news, as most of the shows honored don't air on the legacy over the air networks anymore.

Wing and League have been in conversation with YouTube and Apple TV+ recently, as rumors have it.
Who knows where the Tonys will eventually end up.

Interesting...considering YouTube will also be the streaming home for the Oscars I wouldnt be surprised seeing the Tonys follow suit...and its much better than my original saturation which was NBC getting the rights

The Tonys need to move to streaming, namely YouTube. It's a worldwide platform as opposed to that crappy Paramount+

Hope the Tonys can find a great home -- whether that's continuing with CBS -- or a new situation with YouTubeTV, Apple + etc.
The only awards shows worth watching anymore are the Tonys and Grammys, IMO.
