Brantley is mixed-to-positive.

But his heart's not in it.

I'm pretty surprised by the reviews. I knew the cast would do well, because Rosemary Harris is amazing, but the rest of it didn't do terribly well on Curtain Critic.

It's a shame! I hate to see plays get poor reviews.

What I find sad is that no one has bothered to mention whether Rosemary Harris makes good facial expressions or stays in character.
How else can a performance be judged?

I saw an early preview, and I'm not sure if I could say if Ms. Harris stayed in character the whole time. During the 52-minute period when her back was to the audience, it's possible she was not in character, but impossible to say. She certainly didn't have a lot of facial expressions. Jim Dale, however, had a grip on both facets of his performance. Also, DANCING.

Sorry to be "that guy," but are there any gunshots?
I'm taking my mom to see this, and she's a miniature schnauzer.
Thanks!
