I know that she has been cast for the Ghost of Versailles in 2010 for the Met, but doesn't the Met refrain from using personal microphones? I know that she was classically trained and has a wonderful opera voice, but will she really be able to fill the Met?

I am a dancer, and personally for me, if I am in a drama or very low-octane musical, I do not wear a dance belt. For me, when I put it on, I go into dancer mode, and become really sucked in and pulled up. Too much for a play. A majority of the chorus on Broadway will wear dance belts, and probably the more physical leads as well. My school was trying to secure the rights to Chicago, but instead we now are producing The Pajama Game. When I asked why Chicago fell through, they said that because the show is currently on Broadway, the rights are temporarily locked, but I have surely seen productions of other musicals, Chicago including, that were on Broadway at the time? Anybody know why Chicago is currently un-licensealbe?

I agree, this obsession is crazy! If you really want to get into swishage, check out some Martha Graham...girlfriend contracts AND swishes! Look into Graham's CRONICLE as well, some hard core choreographed TECHNICAL swishing.

I agree with some of the other posters, that the scale of the musical Wicked must be taken into account...it is fairly mammoth.

Hello all, I have a question about this musical...well actually the choreography. How much of it did Bob Fosse choreograph? I have heard that he only worked out Steam Heat, and if I am correct that would make sense, because The Pajama Game was at the start of his career. With that said, I am confused, because so much of the show seems to be in his style, especially Hernando's Hideaway. If anybody knows, I'd love some help! Alexander

I disagree with the "pretty" thing. Even though Audra has one of the most classically trained voices (with Juilliard and all) she always to me has seemed to have this thick character that is distinctly "Audra" to her voice. I do agree with givesmevoice, she seems to be a bit intangible, and I can see how that would work in a way for the beggar woman. ...though would she not be an AMAZING Lovett?

It has always been taught to me that no matter the variables that go into an audience witnessing a performance, that the performers hold the power of the energy, and they can either use it to bring a show (and audience) way up or down. Just me :)

You will find the once-and-a-while Broadway actor scoping things out here. I doubt professional actors on the Broadway stage would waste there time here.

Same sentiment here... I really appreciate the attempt to more thoroughly expose Broadway to the masses, and hope that continues. By that same token I become a bit of an uptight purist when I go to movies of shows that I am familiar with. Lyric changes tend to baffle me, specifically. I also prefer the energy interplay between audience and actor in live theater...but that probably goes for most of you. Even though this is mostly about musicals, I DO think that The History Boys film was great!

I think that the movie version will be far removed from the Doyle's version, so it's hard to tell. Love to see it happen though!

A bit different, but the West Coast premier of Romeo et Juliette (the contemporary ballet version) is going to be danced by the Pacific Northwest Ballet this spring. So excited!

I love Bare, been a follower since NY. I am very happy that the production team feels like they finallygot the Bare they wanted, but at the same time, it feels like they are kind of disregarding why Bare is still so popular; most of it is due to us remaining few (or apparently many) surviving on some "remastered" NY bootlegs. I went to a barber shop and got a REAL shave for the first time today. I do admit that, irrationally, I was scared to go because I really thought there was going to be a maniac barber...but there was not, hah. Anyway, I did get a really good shave though, my face feels like spring!
