Parody Musicals

If I were more of a Twilight fan, I might be quicker to check it out. That's kinda why I'm geeking out about Orange.

Ah... that's too bad, because the idea actually didn't sound all that crazy to me! I'd like to see her have another chance to prove herself as a musical performer outside of "Annie." We'll wait for a role a bit more... stationary...

I think you're right. SCREAM! has been around for a bit. And that show also isn't original songs, correct? The StarKid stuff is a lot of fun... and Harry Potter was a great vehicle to earn them a following. Did you happen to see SILENCE? Have you heard anything about this ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK SHOW?

Also... AMAZING profile picture. Such an Angela fan. Just saw her in Blithe Spirit. She is such a theatre treasure.

And did anyone get to see the REDRUM reading with Alice Ripley? I want the scoop!

Parody Musicals

Parody musicals seem to be everywhere right now! SILENCE was great and I'm excited for REDRUM. But then I see that Scream and Cruel Intention etc etc are popping up in LA and then I just saw some stuff about an ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK parody musical! I'm a huge fan of the tv show so I'm skeptical. They have a song up which I actually really liked, but it's morello and she's my favorite character. Has anyone else heard about this show? Or thoughts on parody musicals in general?

Pippin Tour?

The revival was great!! Saw it three times in New York. It was fun to see the tour in LA since I got to see MJT and Andrea Martin (It was already KDM and Annie Potts when I was in NYC) -- something about the spirit of the show felt a little lost in a theatre as large as the Pantages. Somehow the Music Box really seemed to heighten the sense of spectacle (if that makes sense?). And Rachel Bay Jones is just... incomparable. AND HILARIOUS!! So I missed her.
