La Cage Aux Folles CD Insert Jun 21 2013, 05:12:14 AM
Hello, Ive been looking online for a copy of the program note Harvey wrote in the La Cage Aux Folles New Broadway cast Recording - I bought the CD from iTunes but it didn't come with a digital booklet. Does anyone know if there is a link for his notes from the CD online or if anyone is feeling generous would they be able to scan a copy/type a copy? It would be really appreciated. Thanks

Brecht's alienation effect in Broadway musicals? Dec 6 2011, 09:33:04 AM
Blood Brothers. Telling the audience how the story ends at the start of the show to get the audience intellectually engaged rather than emotionally. Actors playing more than one character and making it very obvious e.g "were'nt you the milkman?" Narrator speaking directly to the audience, commenting on the action. minimal set. Songs.

Eddie Redmayne Joins Les Miserables Movie Nov 2 2011, 02:10:03 PM
Eddie played the Emcee in a production of Cabaret I choreographed - I can assure you he can sing, and is an amazing actor. This is very exciting casting!

re: Coming to New York in 2 weeks - What shows do you suggest? Dec 9 2009, 10:24:14 AM
Thanks, I think I will wait for Hair seeing as it is coming over to the UK. Will I be ok booking tickets for shows when I arrive in NYC or should I pre-book them? I know in the Uk that you can normally get a ticket for any show on the day of the performance, not sure if it's the same on Broadway though.

Coming to New York in 2 weeks - What shows do you suggest? Dec 9 2009, 09:15:32 AM
Hello all, I'm coming to New York for the first time on 26th December - 3rd January, and I have a couple of questions. Firstly - what shows do people reccomend at the moment? I have seen most of the shows in the West End, so dont want to see Lion King, Mary Poppins, Wicked, Billy Elliott etc Also we havent booked tickets yet, are tickets available to buy when we get there, even the week after christmas? Many thanks for any advice Michael

HaHa not sure about Times Square at NYE yet. Ive read a few forums saying its not that pleasurable, although it would be an experience I guess. What do you think? Also what's the West Side Story production like? Might be nice to see a classic Broadway show on Broadway and Ive never seen a pro production.

Thanks, does anyone know what new shows there will be in the fall? I heard Ragtime was opening, I did see this in London but would love to see it again. Definately think I'll try and get to see In The Heights. What's The Little Mermain Like? And does Hair have a narrative plot? My friend who is coming with me isnt a huge musicals fan, will she understand it?

HELP - Why do YOU like musicals so much? Nov 18 2008, 05:54:19 PM
Hello all, I am currently writing a dissertation for a Masters Degree and could really do with some information from the readers of Broadwayworld.com. If you could please take a moment to tell me why YOU enjoy musicals, what is it that draws YOU to them, what makes them so appealing? (And if you don't like musicals could you tell me what it is YOU don't like about them) This is personal to you rather than a generalised reason. Any comments would be greatly apprec

re: HELP WANTED - info on musicals Feb 11 2008, 09:16:23 PM
Yeah I remember that too - wasnt really meaning that its what Andrew intended, just meant that some people have read into the story that way. I remember reading this whole thing about how this person though that Rusty in starlight was the holy son, and the starlight was the holy spirit and pop the holy father but cant remember where.

re: TIM BURTON @ WICKED Nov 26 2006, 06:51:15 PM
NOTE: this is me just dreaming, I know they probably just went to watch the show for fun. But how cool if he went to watch Idina as he was considering her for the Beggar Woman, she'd play the role so well, only have to age her up a bit.

TIM BURTON @ WICKED Nov 26 2006, 06:37:01 PM
Don't know if this has already been posted or not or if it belongs on this board, but I went to see Wicked in London on Saturday evening and as I stood in the foyer there stood next to be was Tim Burton and Helena Boneham Carter. They soon got whisked off to their own private bar. Is he interested in the Wicked movie do you think or was he looking at anyone in the show in mins for Sweeney?

Nicola Hughes is AMAZING! She was fantastic as Velma in Chicago and blew everyone away in Fosse, her portrayl of Bess will be a real treat. She is also the nicest woman too, she comes from the same town as me and I interviewed her for me degree disertation - such a lovely woman. Did you know you can buy her solo CD?
