THE COLOR PURPLE Previews
First of all, Jennifer Hudson is a goddess. She can literally sing anything and it will be perfect and there will be tears. Ervio's Celie made my heart ache. The show: I was so invested the whole time-there was an intimacy and bare bones kind of feel to me that made me hang on every word and note. I feel like the people around me were doing the same. I loved it.
Is On Your Feet accurate?
I feel like it's too positive to be totally accurately I mean it's a jukebox musical so there's only so far they could go haha
GIGANTIC?
I saw it last week and thought it was hilarious and touching. Its really cool and inspiring to see non-traditional types on stage in leading roles. It's predictable bc it kind of pays homage to teen summer camp movies, but the book is so funny and the entire cast is top notch-they sound amazing individually and blend together SO well. I haven't read any reviews so I can't speak to that, but I'm surprised to read they're not good because the audience was loving it. Including me!

So excited for this. I watched the special, and I'm a little nervous about the Dorothy casting...she's really...how do I say...Disney? She's adorable but couldn't they have found someone with more umph? However, she may be amazing.. who fcking knows.
