Which one is better? And which one is more likely to be nominated for Best Musical?

On here? Easy. School of Rock, since they have a $25 lottery.
That said, Roxy had more fun at On Your Feet than he would have if he were able to see Hamilton.
Nice to see you took your morning hate pill with your Hamilton crack
I hope we do not get hit in NY as it may interrupt the Hamilton schedule and as we all know that is all that is important these days. It should be interesting how you react to similar circumstances. Oh, I forgot, you are perfect.
It's interesting that merely repeating what you posted nearly verbatim is hateful.
"It should be interesting how you react to similar circumstances. Oh, I forgot, you are perfect."
No clue how to react to this, since I have no idea what it means.

Further to what I said above, I am more concerned about my wife's type 2 diabetes diagnosis and dealing with that than I am with Hamilton or any other Broadway show. This is real life & not fantasy land. I may now have to start going on thyroid medicine for a rapid pulse. Again, this is a tad more important than "the show". People have a way of not dealing with really important stuff . If this or any other show is the be all and end all for you and others, great.
Man, you're laying the melodrama on thick so early in the day. Don't start at a 10 because you'll have nowhere to go!
My daughter and I saw both over the Thanksgiving holidays. We were pleasantly surprised of how much fun we had at both. A lot would depend on you and your own tastes. School of Rock had lots of kids at the show (lots of them boys), the show is good for families. The lead is charming and does not do a direct Jack Black imitation, but does portray the character as a lovable loafer. The kids are very talented and shine as the prep school kids becoming a rock and roll band. The ALW score is not your typical ALW score. My daughter is not a ALW fan, but liked this score. We left humming a couple of the numbers. I would recommend this if you have kids or are a child of the 90's.
On Your Feet was my favorite of the two. I loved Gloria Estefan when I was in college, so I am a fan of her music. Actual m embers of the Miami Sound Machine are in the orchestra and the sound was authentic. The book of this musical is much better than Beautiful. The show is solid. If you are a child of the 80s and a fan of Gloria, I think this will be the show for you.
Overall, both of these shows are solid, fun, and entertaining shows. They are not Pulitzer prize contenders, but are well crafted.

Kad, instead of posting to criticize my thread, why don't you at least answer the question.
Uhh, OK. Not sure how I said Hamilton was more important than you or your wife's health.
But if you want to strawman a victory by deflecting away from your Hamilton fixation, that's fine.

Who ever said they can't both get a nomination?

They both for sure can, but with Waitress, Tuck Everlasting, Bright Star, American Psycho, and Shuffle Along opening in the spring; shows that have been well received already, and of course with Hamilton having a slot already, it seems highly unlikely that they both will receive a nomination.

A) I wasn't criticizing your thread.
B) The question is subjective, has no single answer, and hinges on the faulty logic that these two shows will directly be only in competition with each other for a slot.

Easiest way to avoid thread derailment, start with a thesis rather than "here's a topic I'm not going to weigh in on or present my thoughts about, but everyone else can start to discuss it now."

Like I said before, it seems highly unlikely that they will both get a nomination.
Does it really matter which shows lose to Hamilton? Sort of seems like worrying about the order in which the non-winners are voted off a reality TV show.
I still hope to enjoy a lot of these shows, American Psycho especially, but I don't see anything thwarting the juggernaut.

Well we already know all the shows are going to lose to Hamilton.
Did you change the original post? I don't remember the part about which one will be nominated when I answered your question. I thought it was a question in reference to which one should one attend.
To answer the question about a best musical nomination. They both are well crafted, quality musicals and are worthy of a nomination. But, we haven't seen the Broadway productions yet of the spring musicals, will Tuck Everlasting, Waitress, etal, live up to their out of town and workshop expectations? Hard to say at this point.
So they both might get the other slots after Hamilton.
Can we rename this thread "Roxy's Rapid Pulse & Mrs. Roxy's Diabetes?" Or can someone write a play about it? I have some great casting ideas.

I've made this disclosure before, and I'll make it again here, I'm not going to provide input on which one is better because I have previously worked with one of the shows.
However, I agree that the thought that these two will be competing for one spot is a little faulty. Waitress didn't get absolutely glowing reviews (some thought the music was one note), Tuck didn't get great reviews as well, Bright Star is out of the "usual formula" (though that's not a bad thing as Once and Fun Home were as well), and American Psycho and Shuffle Along are completely new. There is no guarantee that these other shows will or will not be viable options for the spots.
As for if these shows will improve after their out of towns, that is definitely a possibility. But you know what else had promise out of town and decent reviews? Amazing Grace.

I think a lot is going to depend on reviews. I am so curious who will get the nominations considering how many great new musicals we are getting this season. I just have a feeling Waitress will get a nomination.

American Psycho is a transfer from the West End, where I believe it was well-received.

Ahh, that's right. I had forgotten about that since that was a couple years ago now. That iteration got decent reviews now that I think about it.

I wonder if Shuffle Along will be considered new. I also don't fully understand why they are even doing Shuffle Along in the first place. I am excited for it because I love the actors in it, but it seems so random to me.

So there will be a two year gap between the London run and the Broadway run. Forgive me for forgetting. I've been through grad school since then.
