There was also an insta account for title of show which SO also proclaimed. I'm not saying you are (or SO) are wrong, but I wouldnt use the insta thing as definitive proof.

What's the account handle for It's A Wonderful Life?

Colbert has never been shy to admit that he is a major Lord of the Rings fan. To that end, Peter Jackson is working on a new Lord of the Rings movie and Colbert is writing it. I have no idea if that would get in the way of him being able to do The Odd Couple or not.

But, come to think of it, it may be possible. The only news that has come out regarding the movie are just the fact that Jackson is directing it, Colbert is writing it and the whole project is in its very early stages.

Colbert was on Kimmel recently and talked about writing LOTR in New Zealand over the summer. If he has a break before casting/filming this could theoretically happen

Very good choice, but I think Colbert might likely be cast as Felix. If that's the case, I think Jon Stewart would be my preference for Oscar.

I could see Carell as any one of the guys in Oscar's poker group.

I also love MaxineElliott's request for The Ed Sullivan Theater.

Whoa if true, and quite exciting...we'll see.

I do recall a Late Show episode where Jon was Stephen's guest, the topic of Stephen doing Broadway came up and the idea of both of them doing The Odd Couple opposite each other got bantered about. Seemed like fun wishful thinking at the time, but boy howdy it's print money and perhaps put a big breath of fresh air into that often done Neil Simon classic (as well as be a massive press boost for Broadway as a whole - positive PR is a big piece of what we're missing right now IMO...)

Fingers crossed this comes through!

Yeah -- but it's not set up or followed by anyone with any direct ties to Broadway and has 13 followers ---including Sweaty Nutsack (aka Jonathan Lewis). I wouldn't put much credence in it just yet.

My spidey sense tells me that this production is currently in the "let's start telling people about this idea and try to raise money" phase of production. That said, if the producers can get another household name for Oscar, they will have no trouble getting investors. I agree that Jon Stewart would be great. Steve Carrell is definitely a Felix though, and that is the role Colbert is reportedly tapped for.

I really wouldn’t put stock in the existence of social media profiles. Anyone can make them for any reason and many are created solely to get lock on an ideal handle, even if the project is months away or never comes to fruition.

"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."

It's interesting that this play is heading to the Stephen Sondheim Theatre for the spring, likely ahead of the fall bow of Black Swan, which is rumored to be eyeing the venue for Fall ’27. A star-driven, limited-run play is the absolute perfect bridge show to keep the marquee lit after & Juliet closes, allowing the theater ample time to prep for a massive transfer later in the year.

Actually, that was Carell...

"

EDIT: I just watched the episode JT2030 mentioned above. It's really a great interview, and Colbert's (digs? jokes?) regarding Nathan Lane's age (and age in general) have edges.

EDIT2: Nathan Lane...? I meant Steve Carell... surprise
