Should I Change my Audition Song?
 Dec 10 2017, 09:15:49 AM
I am auditioning for Crazy for You tomorrow, and I want to be one of the Follies girls. I initially wanted to do Always True to You in My Fashion from Kiss Me Kate, but my voice teacher said that I needed to do a specifically Gershwin song. He gave me S' Wonderful from An American in Paris, and I was initially concerned that it did not show off my range enough. He told me that I did, and that I should audition with that song. When I voiced my concerns to my mother, she said that I should do the

People going inside the stage door after shows?
 Aug 26 2017, 12:42:49 PM

This might be a bit of a stupid question, but I've noticed that at many broadway stagedoors, there is a line, maybe 20 people long, that are let backstage in small groups. I have always been curious about this. Are these celebrities that I don't recognize? Are they friends of the cast? Did they pay extra? Did people just get there early and bribe the person working the door? How would an average theatregoer get in that line? What do they do in there?  Thanks in advance!

re: Favorite 'I want' song in a musical

I'm a little surprised that no one has mentioned "My Friends" from Sweeney Todd. It is a little late in the show, but it seems like more of a clear want that Worst Pies in London provides.

In addition, I completely agree that "I Miss the Mountains" is a gorgeous song, and is definitely the I want song for Diana's character, but "Everything Else" also fits the I want song label, and its' place in the show is where the I want songs go in a

Favorite Act One Finale?

What about Our Love is God from Heathers?  I feel like the song just perfectly sums up the essence of Heathers, and it's really a turning point for Veronica, when she starts to realize that J.D. is dangerous.  It really gets the audience excited for Act 2.

What will they perform at the Tonys?

Is it possible that the Hamilton cast might perform Alexander Hamilton like they did at the Grammys?

Well, Matilda was the title character, and would almost certainly have been nominated for best actress, if there weren't four actresses.  Matilda is the clear lead.  However, in School of Rock, Alex Brightman is the lead, so

I know!  Groff had an amazing performance, but he's not in it as much as Daveed and Chris.  I personally think that Anthony Ramos should have gotten the nomination instead of Groff, but any of the nominees for Best Featured Actor are deserving.

The 2016 Tony NOMINATIONS Thread

Any show other than Hamilton should get a Tony for bravery...

I would KILL for a Lesli Margherita nomination for best featured actress, but I don't know if it's going to happen.  She is incredibly talented, but the fact that Dames of Sea closed is going to eliminate her.  And with powerhouses such as Renee and Jennifer up for the Tony, for her to win would be a miracle. (hehe the Matilda references).  It's a matter of time until Lesli gets a Tony, this j

Will Paramour get the Tony next season for the best musical ?

You mean the Tonys in 2017?  I don't know.  I'm kind of hoping for an Anastasia win, because I practically grew up at Hartford Stage.

Lesbians on Broadway

Out magazine did an article, and it listed Roberta Colindrez as one of the people in the cast of Fun Home who are "queer" but that could also mean bisexual or something else.  All I know is she's part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Who Do You Think is the True Villain of Hamilton? (most likely spoilers)

"Yes, sorry.  What I meant was kind of a mix between antagonist and villain if that makes any sense.

Scarywarhol, this is NOTHING.  At my school's production of Little Mermaid, we are adding the song "Baby Beluga", there are only two mersisters, and there are two girls that split Sebastian's role.  Their names are Sebastian and Sylvia.  SYLVIA!!  And there is an extra seagull that takes some of Scuttle's lines named Scamper. &nbs

Who Do You Think is the True Villain of Hamilton? (most likely spoilers)

I was looking online at Hamilton lyrics, and a comment referred to King George as the main villain of Act One.  That started me thinking.  Who is the villain?  There are several characters who aren't exactly the greatest, but to me it seems like there is no real villain of Hamilton. Is that possible?  What do you think?
