Instead of canceling her appearance why don't they just get Kathy to show up? I mean who would know?
PEACE.

Poor Patty Duke. From an Oscar and her own TV show to playing second-tier roles in second-tier productions of Wicked, and appearing at "Hollywood Collectors' Shows".

"Wicked" in San Francisco is not a second tier production. Carol Kane is in it now.

And there's nothing wrong with the Hollywood Collectors Show as I went to it this past weekend (in Hollywood) and spent my Valentine's Day meeting Carrie Fisher and Pee Wee Herman.
I don't think it gets much better than that.
Patty Duke was there last year and she was all over the place. lol

And a LOT of Oscar winners have fallen MUCH further than that. (Not that Patty has done any falling.)
PEACE.

She's also got a movie "Love Finds a Home" premiering on Hallmark Channel in April

And Lord, it's not like her heyday was last year or something. There was a lot of life between that Oscar and this production of Wicked, including a CRAZY tv movie based on her book where she played herself as an adult.

Is Patty playing both Galinda and Elphaba? Or maybe they will call in Hayley Mills and they will switch roles.

This is only true if the thread gets pulled.

Correction:
This is only true if the thread gets pulled and then a headline pops up on the BWW News Desk: "Patty Duke to Star in Wicked? We've Got the Scoop!"

It's true. I give you the right to lynch me, if it doesn't come to fruition.

O my god, my sister and I shared Patty Duke paper dolls that used to belong to our mom and auntie!

I see that it is now official that Patty Duke will be replacing Carol Kane in WICKED

Maybe Patty Duke will get to play Madame Morrible in the WICKED movie if it is made sooner than later....

I'll bet she'll start in SF, get warmed up and comfortable in the part, then rotate into the Broadway production.

It would make sense, seeing as how Rondi Reed is only doing a limited engagement as Morrible in NY. I could see Patty Duke following her.

That would be pretty amazing.

It is based on the BOOK, which also based the movie.

I don't know that Houdyshell is coming back to Wicked however. She might be, but I've not heard that.

I'd definitely see WICKED on Broadway if Patty Duke joins. I just adore her. Her performance in VALLEY OF THE DOLLS is my all time favorite indulgent, fantastic, over-the-top performance. And of course THE MIRACLE WORKER is one of my favorite movies. She's great.

How does one pronounce "Houdyshell"?
